Job Description

ABOUT YOUR ROLE:

The Materials Librarian supports the maintenance and organization of VF Corporation’s physical materials library. This role is responsible for assisting in the evaluation of material submissions to ensure relevance and proper categorization based on aesthetic, functional, and physical properties.

Additionally, the role supports ensuring that associated metadata is accurate and properly maintained within VF’s PLM and digital systems to enable efficient cross-functional collaboration.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

Material Evaluation & Curation

  • Support the evaluation of proposed materials for inclusion in the physical library, ensuring alignment with defined criteria
  • Assist in coordinating with design, development, and sourcing teams to understand material usage and intent
  • Support the Manager/Senior Materials Librarian in maintaining library organization, including identifying duplicates and outdated materials

Metadata Validation & System Integration

  • Assist in reviewing and maintaining metadata for approved materials, ensuring accuracy and consistency
  • Support timely entry and updates of material data into PLM and other systems
  • Coordinate with digital library teams to ensure alignment between physical materials and system records

Governance & Quality Assurance

  • Follow established material governance standards to maintain a well-organized and reliable materials library
  • Support identification and correction of discrepancies in material records
  • Assist in maintaining data quality and consistency across platforms

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Support communication with internal teams on material availability and basic material information
  • Provide day-to-day coordination with stakeholders regarding material library usage

WHAT WE WILL BE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:

  • Basic knowledge of footwear & apparel materials, properties, and construction
  • Familiarity with PLM systems or willingness to learn
  • Good communication and coordination skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organization skills
  • Basic analytical skills and willingness to work with data
  • Understanding of sustainability concepts is a plus
