As a Senior Government Consultant II – Medicaid Policy Specialist, you will play a vital role as a core team member providing expert insights on complex projects for clients, which are primarily state Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) agencies and related state agencies responsible for Medicaid and CHIP fee-for-service and managed care programs. Senior Government Consultant II – Medicaid Policy Specialist
We will count on you to:
Provide research, analysis and strategic consulting on Medicaid managed care policy, procurement, and contracting.
Participate as a team member to help states design, develop, implement, and improve their Medicaid and CHIP programs to achieve their goals, including the use of effective contract tools.
Develop innovative strategies to resolve complex issues where policy guidance is unclear, and policy solutions require deeper analysis.
Consider the implication of policy, legal, political, or other changes to the State Medicaid programs.
Communicate results and contribute to discussions with clients, health plans, and other stakeholders to help clients develop their desired policy and program options.
Contribute to and develop articles, thought pieces, analyses, and policy summaries.
Plan, direct, and coordinate projects and resources to support Medicaid policy research, program development, and implementation of Medicaid initiatives.
Engage and collaborate with stakeholders, including Medicaid leadership, providers, and beneficiaries, to gather feedback and inform program recommendations.
Manage the quality and timeliness of client deliverables, communicating regularly and effectively with project teams.
What you need to have:
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience
Demonstrated experience and success in managing complex projects and navigating challenging Medicaid policy topics
Excellent project management, project leadership, and interpersonal skills
Success working across matrix teams
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple project deadlines
Ability to translate technical findings into clear, client-friendly insights
What makes you stand out?
Master’s degree in health policy, public policy, health management, public health or related field
State agency Medicaid managed care procurement experience, State agency Medicaid managed care compliance experience, federal agency Medicaid managed care procurement regulatory experience, or managed care organization Medicaid managed care experience
Expertise with targeted monitoring in areas such as Medicaid managed care organization readiness reviews, Mental Health parity/MHPAEA compliance, or program integrity.
Experience with Medicaid State Plans and different Medicaid waiver authorities
Experience working with Medicaid actuaries
