About the Role
The Materials Manager is responsible for ensuring the right materials are in the right place at the right time to support production and customer delivery. This role oversees inventory control and warehouse operations to keep production running smoothly.
This position plays a critical role in balancing cost, quality, and delivery while working closely with production, engineering, and customer teams in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/FUNCTIONS
Inventory Management
- Maintain optimal inventory levels, balancing availability with carrying costs
- Oversee cycle counting, physical inventory, and inventory accuracy initiatives
- Analyze inventory trends, including excess, obsolete, and slow-moving materials
- Implement strategies to reduce waste and improve inventory turns
Warehouse & Logistics Oversight
- Manage receiving, storage, and material movement processes
- Ensure materials are properly handled, stored, and issued to production
- Oversee shipping and logistics coordination as needed
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with production, engineering, and quality teams to support build readiness
- Participate in production meetings to align on priorities and constraints
- Communicate material risks, shortages, and recovery plans clearly to stakeholders
Process Improvement
- Identify and implement improvements in material flow, planning accuracy, and efficiency
- Support ERP/MRP system optimization and data integrity
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery and inventory accuracy
Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop team members
- Set clear expectations and hold team accountable for performance
- Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of experience in materials management, supply chain, or purchasing in a manufacturing environment
- 5+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong experience with ERP/MRP systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in electronics manufacturing services (EMS) or similar high-mix, low-to-medium volume environment
- APICS/CPIM or CSCP certification
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies
WORKING CONDITIONS
Typical working conditions at Kitron are indoors, safe, well lit, temperature controlled, low exposure to noxious fumes or offensive odors, clean and sanitary conditions with average light industrial noise. Production areas have machinery with moving parts. Static dissipative smock, and shoes are required. Offices with locking doors, meeting rooms, and common printing areas are well lit, clean, low noise, and temperature controlled with no exposure to noxious fumes or offensive odors.

- Occasional lifting of materials up to 40 pounds, as needed
