About The Division:
The Communications and Information Services (CIS) Division provides a variety of professional creative, media and technology services for the Comptroller's office. We design, develop and maintain the Comptroller’s website; write, edit and produce campaigns, publications and reports; provide Spanish translation services; develop high-quality multimedia marketing materials; manage agency social media accounts; and serve as the Comptroller’s press liaison.
Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week with occasional evening, weekend hours and holidays. Hours may change based on business need. Hybrid work environment with two days per week telework and three days per week onsite.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in English, communications, journalism, public relations, government policy or related field.
Experience:
- Five (5) years’ experience in the planning, development, preparation, creation and dissemination of information through a diverse array of materials, including newsletters, magazines, news media, brochures, posters, web content and reports.
- Must have experience developing communication materials and resources for both internal and external audiences.
- Two (2) years’ experience supervising, planning and editing the work of other writers.
Preferred Experience
- Three (3) years’ experience using Microsoft Office products and Adobe Acrobat; additional experience using collaborative systems such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive preferred.
Substitution:
One (1) additional year of the full-time minimum experience as stated above may substitute for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education with a maximum of 120 semester hours (four years).
In this role you will:
Content Development & Editorial Production
- Writes, edits and proofs print and web content, including agency articles, news releases, special reports, emails, and other projects geared toward external and internal audiences.
- Develops advanced (senior-level) informational work, including talking points/speeches and op-eds based on thorough research using credible, authoritative, original sources.
- Writes and edits articles and coordinates a variety of timely, error-free informational and economic materials.
Editorial Review, Research & Fact-Checking
· Provides editorial assistance, suggestions and rewrites as requested.
· Collects, organizes, fact-checks and prepares data for agency websites, talking points and publications.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Campaign Development
· With an emphasis on customer service, works closely with agency stakeholders to develop and execute internal- and external-facing promotional campaigns.
· Works closely with senior management, subject matter experts and division staff to manage Editorial projects.
Performs other related work as assigned.
