Senior Mechanical Engineer

Compensation: $98,000 - $127,000 / year
Description
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting and leading projects from inception to completion. designing mechanical and plumbing systems and mentoring junior staff. This role includes maintaining project schedules, interfacing with clients, and delivering high-quality solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Duties Include
- Design and develop mechanical and plumbing systems independently.
- Prepare and revise documentation across various project phases.
- Manage and execute mechanical engineering deliverables across multiple projects in a dynamic work environment.
- Develop project scope, budgets, and design approaches for projects of varying complexity.
- Review equipment data sheets for compliance with project requirements, evaluate contractor submittals, and advise on potential impacts to scope, schedule, and budget.
- Conduct quality assurance and control on personal and peer projects.
- Assist in creating new standards and specifications for the mechanical engineering group.
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends and recommend changes to approaches and client services as needed.
- Participate in client/vendor/contractor project requirement meetings, value analysis sessions, and cost estimating activities.
- Lead the preparation and coordination of project specifications and related documents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in mechanical design software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, components, and design principles.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering data.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook and familiarity with Deltek
- VantagePoint and Smartsheet or similar software’s platforms.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, energy/load simulation software.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to exercise critical thinking and good independent judgement.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively multi-task and work on multiple projects while adhering to project schedules and budgets.
- Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate project deadlines.
- Detail oriented, quality conscious, reliable and self-motivated.
- Valid stated-issued driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Education and Experience:
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Florida or ability to attain reciprocity.
- Minimum of 7+ years of mechanical engineering and design experience, including HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Boilers, Chillers, and Central Heating (CH) systems.
- Project experience in designing Mechanical/HVAC systems for various industries.
