Website: https://www.publicisresources.com Overview Objective The Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing corporate income tax (CIT), Goods and Services Tax (GST), transfer pricing (TP), Stamp Duty (SD) and overall tax compliance for the Singapore and Malaysia entities. The role ensures full compliance with Singapore tax regulations and corporate policies while driving standardization of tax processes, managing tax risks, and supporting efficient tax operations. The Tax Manager will act as a key advisor to the business on commercial and cross-border tax matters. Responsibilities Responsibilities Tax Compliance & Reporting Supervise tax compliance processes, ensuring accurate and timely filing of all applicable taxes, including direct taxes, indirect taxes, and withholding taxes. Ensure compliance with Singapore's tax legislation and monitor changes in tax regulations, advising the company on necessary adjustments. Approve corporate income tax calculations and returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Oversee tax reconciliations and ensure they align with financial statements. Manage the cash tax and ETR (Effective Tax Rate) actuals and forecast reports. Manage tax documentation and maintain updated records for audits and internal controls. Champion initiatives to enhance efficiency and automation in tax compliance and reporting processes. Oversee Malaysia tax compliance activities performed by the Senior Tax Associate, including CIT, SST, WHT, and transfer pricing, ensuring alignment with group standards. Tax Advisory, Strategy & Planning Develop tax planning strategies to optimize the company's tax position, while ensuring full legal compliance. Advise on transactions and restructurings. Identify tax risks and opportunities for savings within business operations. Provide guidance on the tax implications of new business structures, mergers, and acquisitions. Serve as the primary contact for tax-related queries and provide insightful guidance on business operations. Transfer Pricing Oversee TP documentation and Local File. Ensure OECD, IRAS, and corporate pricing policies compliance. Advise entities on intercompany pricing. Tax Audits & Authorities Act as the main liaison with Singapore's tax authorities (IRAS), handling inquiries, audits, and potential disputes. Manage requests for Certificate of Residence and filing extensions. Supervise tax litigation processes and manage tax-related legal matters with internal and external advisors. Ensure proper responses to tax assessments and develop strategies to mitigate risks. Internal & External Stakeholder Management Coordinate and collaborate with business CFOs, Controllers, and external tax advisors to align tax strategies with business objectives. Support internal and external audits, ensuring tax compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements. Provide tax training and awareness to internal teams to enhance compliance and efficiency. Act as the primary tax point of contact for both Singapore and Malaysia business stakeholders. Team Development Manage one Senior Tax Associate (Malaysia) and provide training, including onboarding, periodic refresher sessions, and updates on regulatory changes. Assess skill gaps and define an annual training plan aligned to compliance deadlines (CIT, GST, WHT, TP documentation) and internal control requirements. Develop and maintain training materials, SOPs, checklists, and a knowledge repository to standardize tax processes across agencies and the shared service center. Coach and mentor team member through on-the-job reviews, case discussions, and feedback to improve technical capability and judgment. Track training effectiveness (e.g., filing accuracy, timeliness, audit findings) and continuously improve the program based on results and stakeholder feedback. Preferred: AI-Related Exposure Demonstrates a proactive and pragmatic approach to leveraging AI and automation tools to improve tax processes, with a focus on actively identifying practical use cases and efficiency gains. Qualifications Academic and Training Requirements Formal Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or Law. Postgraduate studies in Taxation, Finance, or related fields are a plus. Work Experience Minimum 7 years of career experience in tax At least 3 years in a Managerial position in a multinational company or Big 4 firm. Languages English - advanced or fluent Technical skills Deep knowledge of Singapore's tax regulations, including corporate tax, GST, withholding taxes, Stamp Duty, and transfer pricing. Experience with tax audits, tax planning, and compliance processes. Strong understanding of international taxation and cross-border transactions. Familiarity with tax implications of M&A and corporate restructurings. Working knowledge of Malaysia tax regulations (CIT, SST, WHT, transfer pricing) is a plus. Soft skills Results orientation Team Work Analytical Thinking Internal & External Customer service Willingness to learn Proactivity Problem Solving Tools specific knowledge Accounting ERP programs. Knowledge of SAP and/or SAP S/4HANA is a plus.
