Crankcase Oil Mist Detection SpecialistMarine Diesel Crankcase Oil Mist Detection SystemsFull-time | Based in Milton Keynes, UK (or Home-based)Reports to: OMD Sales Manager Are you passionate about marine safety and electronic systems? Do you enjoy supporting customers and solving technical challenges? We are looking for a Crankcase Oil Mist Detection Specialist to join our team in the UK. Purpose of the Role: Crankcase Oil Mist Detection Specialist  This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the Crankcase Oil Mist Detection System product range, along with responsibility for managing and tracking all customer warranty returns and supporting any product recalls or remediation programs. The specialist will assist customers with both technical and commercial queries, ensuring timely and effective resolution. The role also involves handling all third-party approvals, including coordination with classification societies and monitoring regulatory changes for new and existing products. In addition, the position includes account management and forecasting for selected customers, as well as responsibility for overseeing the product Learning & Development Program subscription service. Broad Accountabilities Full responsibility for managing the product warranty returns process, including tracking and reporting Analyse all returns and technical enquiries to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions Liaise closely with the factory to address production issues and support effective solutions Monitor and assess potential product obsolescence risks Coordinate and manage all third-party and customer approvals Support product cybersecurity compliance requirements Oversee product training, certification, and tracking activities Maintain accurate records of ship interactions and ensure sanctions compliance Contribute to achieving annual sales targets and support growth initiatives Skills, Knowledge & Experience Strong blend of marine engineering, industrial electronics, and safety systems knowledge Good communication skills Solid commercial awareness Strong technical presentation skills Willingness to travel Desirable Experience with Marine Crankcase Oil Mist Detection Systems (e.g., Graviner, Schaller, Specs, Daihatsu) or fire alarm panels Knowledge of the marine industry and/or ship service operations Experience with vessel Class Society approval processes Understanding of vessel cybersecurity requirements Behaviours Passion for supporting ship safety systems Strong team player Ability to work effectively in multinational environments Ability to work independently and take initiative Integrity in business dealings Willingness to make decisions Commitment to ethics and compliance standards Candidate Background: Previous experience in technical product support (e.g., fire alarm panels or electronic components) or in international technical systems sales is highly desirable. We welcome candidates with experience in roles such as Technical Product Support, International Technical Sales, Marine Systems Technicians, Fleet Superintendents, Marine Engineers, or Electrical Technicians. Other Requirements: Valid driving licence is mandatory Use of a personal vehicle for business purposes will be reimbursed in line with company policy Leadership & Team Structure There are no direct reports initially. As the team evolves and the scope of the role expands, line management and mentoring responsibilities are expected to be introduced. Travel & Relocation ExpectationsThe role involves limited travel, primarily within the UK and Europe, including: The role involves limited travel, primarily within the UK and Europe, including attendance at training sessions at R&D centres, customer meetings, trade shows, and internal KGS meetings. As the role develops, there may be occasional opportunities for global travel to support international customers and participate in key industry events. All business-related travel expenses will be covered in line with company policy. No relocation is required. Clear Expectations & KPIs While the role description outlines responsibilities in detail, the following milestones define clear expectations for the first 6–12 months in the role. Within the first 3 months: Complete Graviner OMD Hands-On Training (MK6 & MK7), subject to availability Develop and complete Account Profiles for assigned customers Provide weekly activity reports, including forecasting Review and update Engine Designer account information Prepare a current Graviner OMD SWOT analysis Within the first 6 months: Gain full understanding of the Graviner OMD RMA process and take ownership of in-warranty activities Develop a strong understanding of the Marine IACS approval process and ensure all Class Certificates are up to date and published Take responsibility for the new MK7 RDU development, including cybersecurity compliance Take ownership of the OMD Subscription Training initiative Review and update all Graviner OMD marketing collateral and website content Work closely with the OMD team to enhance the Vessel Service and Maintenance initiative These milestones are designed to ensure a smooth transition into the role, build technical and commercial capability, and drive early impact across key business areas.
