Job Description

Closing date: May 31, 2026

Use your eye for detail and creative flair at a company where the work matters. The British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is seeking a Communications Production & Projects Co-op student/Intern for the Fall 2026 work term (September to December). You’ll join the Creative Production Hub, the central engine behind how BCI Communications produces, brands, measures, and governs its content. This is a hands-on role spanning design support, event production, and the measurement, governance, and audit work that keeps a modern communications function running. It’s a rare chance to see how an enterprise communications team operates at scale. Be part of work that generates more than returns, creating real possibilities for the people and communities our clients serve.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
BCI manages a globally diversified portfolio of assets valued at $295 billion and is one of Canada’s largest institutional investors. We invest globally to support pension and other funds for more than 30 clients based in British Columbia. We are proud to have been chosen as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers and BC’s Top Employers. These national and provincial competitions recognize employers who offer exceptional workplaces for their employees.

The Communications Production & Projects Co-op will work within the Creative Production Hub, BCI’s centralized shared service for content production, channel management, brand governance, measurement, and investment education. This is a great opportunity to learn the production craft and operational discipline behind high-quality communications, moving content from idea to publication, supporting executive-level events, and building the frameworks that help a global brand run consistently. You’ll develop skills across design, digital, and event delivery in one role.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
The Creative Production Hub is where the work of BCI Communications gets produced, packaged, published, and measured. The team brings together design and brand governance, digital platform management (BCI.ca, LinkedIn, The Exchange, Bull & Bear), corporate reporting, investment education, and measurement and analytics, supporting investment teams, senior leadership, and employees. Operating on a “create once, adapt many” philosophy, the Hub is the connective tissue between BCI’s Global Investment Communications and Employee Communications pillars.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

You’ll support production and operational work across the Hub’s design, engagement and education, and digital governance functions — a deliberately cross-cutting remit designed to give you a full view of how communications content gets made, moved, and measured. Depending on team priorities and project timing during your work term, you may contribute to all or some of the following:

  • Provide production support across design, event, and digital projects — working from templates in PowerPoint, Word, and Adobe tools, and helping maintain BCI’s digital asset library (tagging, naming conventions, metadata)

  • Take active notes in design intake conversations to capture business partner requirements accurately and consistently

  • Update recurring program content (session agendas, intro slides, looping slides) and proofread event materials ahead of delivery, when last-minute changes increase the risk of errors

  • Support day-of logistics for the Strategic Partners in Leadership (SPIL) workshop, webcasts, client education, and other fall programming — including cross-posting recordings, tracking follow-up distribution, and assembling printed materials

  • Clean up tagging in the editorial calendar to support accurate reporting across departments and content campaigns, and help build reporting dashboards for the Communications Business Partner (CBP) community

  • Draft process documents, templates, and checklists for workflows that cross the CBP and Creative Production Hub teams

  • Map the current digital platform governance model and help draft a proposed governance policy document for leadership review

  • Conduct a full content audit of The Exchange and Bull & Bear, identifying stale content and gaps to inform CBP content strategies and plans

  • Research best-practice and emerging AI tools that could improve the team’s content production and digital workflows

  • Partner with Global Investment Communications and Employee Communications on Hub-supported initiatives, and contribute to ad-hoc research, writing, and project support as directed

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Business, or a related field

  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook, with experience working from templates and style guides, and the ability to apply brand standards consistently

  • Strong attention to detail when proofing written and visual content, and the ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality

  • Ability to stay focused and calm in fast-paced, day-of event environments

  • Active listening and note-taking skills to capture requirements from meetings and business partner conversations

  • A research and analytical mindset — comfortable working with data, documenting processes, and drafting frameworks for review

  • Genuine curiosity about AI and emerging design and content tools, with a willingness to learn and experiment

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities

  • Familiarity with digital asset management, design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva), digital publishing or CMS platforms, video production, or basic data and dashboarding tools would be an asset

  • An interest in or basic understanding of the institutional investment industry would be a real asset

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Excellent career development and hands-on experience producing real and impactful communications work at one of Canada's largest institutional investors

  • Work with a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment

  • The development of real-world skills at one of the largest institutional investors in Canada

  • Exposure to some of the most talented, approachable, and inspiring people in the industry

  • The ability to opt-in for access to Dialogue, a user-friendly app that offers virtual primary care, employee and family services, and mental health supports

  • Time to connect with co-op students & interns at BCI – build your network and shared learning

  • 2 paid days per year for volunteering

  • Competitive pay: $2,330.00 gross bi-weekly or $2,155.00 gross bi-weekly + vacation leave paid based on 6% of salary ($2,330.00 gross bi-weekly for those with (or working towards) a graduate degree and $2,155.00 gross bi-weekly for those with (or working towards) an undergraduate degree, diploma, or certificate)
