Job Description
- Diagnose and repair electrical issues involving motors, drives, control panels, power distribution, and automated equipment.
- Identify root causes of electrical failures and implement long‑term corrective actions.
- Perform preventative electrical maintenance to detect and correct potential problems before breakdowns occur.
- Review and recommend improvements to preventative maintenance procedures.
- Conduct daily inspections of electrical systems, plant services, and production equipment.
- Maintain and repair building electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, and building controls.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with safety regulations and company standards.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical components as needed to support equipment uptime.
- Set up, adjust, and optimize machinery for peak performance.
- Assist with equipment modifications to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Install new electrical equipment, wiring, and components according to specifications.
- Support equipment upgrades, relocations, and system improvements as directed by management.
- Use the Maintenance Department work order system to:
- Identify assigned work
- Record parts used
- Document time spent
- Describe work performed accurately
- Be available for call‑ins, emergency repairs, and technical consultation as needed.
- Must be physically and mentally fit for duty.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Dependable and able to maintain the attendance required to perform the job.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend and fully understand: SOPs, SDSs, labeling, safety and health regulations, and procedures within the job, this job group and the plant.
- Ability to operate computerized equipment, read scales, recognize product problems, malfunctions and patterns out of specification.
- Requires an associate degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience. An alternative would be at least 5 years’ experience in industrial electrical maintenance.
- 5-10 years’ experience and certified electrician preferred.
- Good human relations skills and a practical approach to problem solving are necessary.
- In addition, the following qualifications are essential for this position: the ability to work independently; excellent troubleshooting skills; ability to quickly isolate problems and repair equipment with minimum downtime; willingness to work flexible hours as needed; must be available for any shift or time needed.
- The job is in a dusty environment.
- Working in a hot and/or cold environment.
- Required to wear respirator, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes.
- Must be able to qualify for and wear a respirator.
- Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding.
- Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits.
- Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.
