The starting pay range for this position begins at $16.32/hour and is based on the level of qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements.
Job Summary
The Winery Retail Sales Assistant is responsible for sales, exceptional guest service, retail floor operations, and accurate cash register operations. This includes assisting guests with making their selections, checking inventory locations for guests, upselling and cross-selling, and increasing revenues. Other responsibilities include assisting in opening and closing the shops, putting out and maintaining samples, performing assigned side work, restocking merchandise, and maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the shops.
Reserve: a position working an average of 20 hours per week (anywhere between 40-999 hours per year).
Schedules may vary; availability, including evenings and weekends, is required for this position.
Essential Job Duties
1. Greet and welcome guests. Do everything possible to make their visit memorable and pleasant.
2. Efficient handling of large sums of money.
3. Open and close the retail shops.
4. Dust and keep the shop in an appealing condition.
5. Familiarize yourself with merchandise whenever possible during the day.
6. Work effectively with minimal supervision.
7. Provide exceptional guest service.
8. Promote Wine Club to all guests.
9. Prepare food samples, maintain samples throughout the course of the day, and take down samples when the shop closes.
10. Exhibit proper phone etiquette.
11. Execute merchandise and wine mail orders with accuracy and efficiency.
12. Due to the high volume of guests and the very high-profile nature of the job, the employee must be able to multitask and be very attentive to their surroundings.

Qualifications
1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. Previous retail and/or customer service experience strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have had at least six (6) months of prior retail or guest service experience in an upscale/luxury setting.
3. Exceptional guest relations and verbal communication skills.
4. Basic math skills and the ability to operate a cash register/point of sale (POS) system. Previous experience with cash handling is helpful.
5. Demonstrated commitment to providing world-class guest service.
6. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, guest service environment as part of a team.
7. Ability to anticipate guest needs, be proactive, and take initiative where appropriate.
8. Ability to exercise good judgment and multitask.
9. Must be 18 years or older.
Physical Requirements
1. Lifting to 50 pounds maximum with frequent bending, lifting, and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
2. Requires walking/standing for extended periods of time.
3. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
4. The employee may work indoors or outside with fluctuations in temperature and conditions.
