Job Purpose
This position supports to maintain high level of service and parts availability for Honda and Acura Genuine Accessories by maintaining on-time delivery, shipment integrity, maximizing service level while minimizing Accessory Backorders.
At this level, specialists have gained knowledge of the supplier network and internal Honda operations. Specialists will continue to be responsible for meeting on-time delivery, backorder, DTR and Service level targets through direct involvement with the Accessory Supplier Base. This level supply specialist is responsible for suppliers and products of low to moderate complexity (parts and vendors have average visibility and supply levels may have some financial consequences). Specialists at this level have moderate knowledge of manufacturing processes, production planning, and general accessory development flow.
Specialists at this level will work with moderate oversight from group leader/unit leader. Specialist at this level will have low to moderate involvement in department PDCA/Project planning and decision making.
Key Accountabilities
- Development & SED Coordination Support –Support low to moderate supplier of Coordination of Domestic & Import Model Launch Inventory Requirements, Part Maturation Coordination, SED Evaluation Prep & Presentation to AHM & HAA Executive Management, Coordination with AHM Deployment & Auto Accessory Marketing for distribution of Model Introduction Requirements.
- Supplier On-Time Delivery Management, DTR’s, Components: manage day to day activities with supplier to ensure high level of parts availability.
- New Model Parts Availability: Support (Low to moderate complexity on commodity part) Identify, evaluate, and establish mitigation plan for supplier critical issues to ensure no impact to new model launch.
- Escalate to management as needed per department escalation.
- Backorder Prevention/Resolution: Identify, evaluate, and establish mitigation plan for supplier critical issues to ensure no impact to customers.
- Lead Time Reduction and EDI implementation
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics preferred
Minimum Experience:
- 2+ years experience in inventory control, procurement and expediting, production control, or related field, depending upon education
Other Job-Specific Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Suite – Excel, Access, Power Point, Word
- Basic understanding of SED Development Process
- Basic ability to read an engineering drawing and BOM

Decisions Expected
- Evaluate performance of supplier and take appropriate action to address non-compliance.
- E2 & S6 SE/SED Evaluation presentation for Executive Approval
- Evaluate PO Order Quantities and partner with IPC-J to modify/place as necessary
- Identify potential capacity limitations and concerns at model launch timing
- Assess financial impact of development delays and recovery schedules
Working Conditions
- Specialist may be required to lift up to 25 lbs
- Travel – 10%
- Overtime as necessary to support department metrics
