Terms of Employment:  Full-time, 10-month
Reports to: Principal
Salary:  Current Odyssey Charter School Teacher Salary Schedule

Job Summary: Odyssey Charter School is seeking a dynamic, dedicated, and culturally responsive School Teacher to support student learning in a rigorous, standards-based, and student-centered environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about fostering academic excellence, building meaningful relationships, and supporting a diverse student population.

This role requires a collaborative educator who can effectively engage all elementary school learners, implement research-based instructional practices, and contribute to a positive school culture rooted in inquiry, critical thinking, and global awareness.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must hold a valid, active Delaware Teaching License and Certificate in required content area in accordance with 14 Del. C. § 1531.
  • Successful completion of Praxis II exams.
  • Master's degree in content area preferred
  • Proficient in English Language, both written and spoken.
  • Experience teaching in Elementary Grades in an immersion or foreign language program preferred
  • Relevant teaching experience preferred
  • Experience teaching students with diverse needs
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • A global citizenship and collaborative mindset
  • Experience working in a multicultural/multilingual environment


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Effectively teach general music education to a diverse group of students in Grades 3–5 in alignment with Odyssey Charter School's mission, curriculum, and instructional expectations.
  • Plan and implement a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, abilities, and learning styles of students.
  • Create and maintain a classroom environment that is safe, inclusive, respectful, and conducive to student learning and engagement.
  • Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments aligned to curriculum standards and provide written evidence of preparation upon request by administration.
  • Establish, communicate, and maintain appropriate standards of student behavior consistent with School policies and expectations.
  • Assess student progress and achievement on a regular basis; maintain accurate records of student performance; provide progress reports as required; and communicate student progress with parents/guardians as appropriate.
  • Differentiate instruction and provide individualized and small-group support, as needed, to address varying student abilities, learning needs, and instructional goals.
  • Collaborate effectively with classroom teachers, specialists, support staff, and families to support student success in inclusive educational settings.
  • Determine and implement appropriate pacing and instructional strategies to support student understanding and engagement in music education.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential records in accordance with applicable laws, School policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Participate in School activities, faculty meetings, professional development, and collaborative planning opportunities as required.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, effective communication, and cooperative working relationships with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by administration.
