As an Electrical Engineer at Mid-City Electric, you’ll design and support complex, high-impact electrical systems while collaborating with some of the best talent in the industry. As an Electrical Engineer at Mid-City, you’ll support project teams in the design, coordination, and implementation of electrical systems for new construction, renovation, and design-build projects. You’ll work closely with project managers, estimators, and field teams to ensure systems are safe, effective, and built to last.
- Designing and coordinating electrical systems for commercial construction projects
- Reviewing architectural and electrical drawings, specifications, and code requirements
- Performing load calculations, lighting layouts, power distribution design, and system coordination studies
- Preparing construction documents, including submittals, shop drawings, and as-built drawings
- Selecting materials and equipment based on technical specs, cost, and energy efficiency
- Ensuring designs meet NEC and local building codes
- Providing job site support during installation and resolving field issues
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive successful outcomes
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in the construction industry
- Working knowledge of NEC, local codes, and commercial electrical systems
- PE license or working toward licensure
- Strong technical knowledge, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency
- Delivering accurate, code-compliant designs that minimize field issues, reduce RFIs, and avoid costly rework
- Serving as a reliable technical resource for both project and field teams, ensuring clarity and timely support
- Balancing innovation with cost-effective solutions that add value to our clients and our business
- Building trust through effective communication, follow-through, and problem-solving
- Meeting deadlines, staying within budget, and contributing to high-quality project outcomes
- Taking the initiative for professional growth through continued learning, training, or certification
