
Senior Interior Designer
Job Description
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Senior Designer to join our Interior Design team in New York, NY. In this role, you will apply creative and architectural principles and practices to support project teams in creating functional and efficient building environments. This position involves designing projects that encompass considerable scope and complexity.

Responsibilities
- Support the design and documentation of retail and hospitality projects under the guidance of senior designers, architects, and project managers.
- Assist in developing design concepts, space plans, material palettes, furniture selections, and presentation materials that align with client brand standards and project objectives.
- Prepare and revise construction documents, drawings, renderings, and specifications using industry-standard software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Participate in site surveys, field verification, and documentation of existing conditions.
- Coordinate with internal project team members, across disciplines and consultants to incorporate design requirements into project deliverables.
- Assist with researching building codes, accessibility requirements, materials, products, and industry trends relevant to retail and hospitality environments.
- Support the preparation of client presentations, design packages, and project reports.
- Review project documents for accuracy and completeness while incorporating feedback from senior team members.
- Attend project meetings, consultant coordination calls, and site visits to gain project experience and understanding of the design and construction process.
- Maintain organized project files and documentation in accordance with company standards and procedures.
- Build positive working relationships with colleagues across disciplines and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
- Stay informed of emerging trends in retail, hospitality, workplace experience, branding, and customer engagement.
- Communicate effectively, share information proactively, and contribute ideas that support project success and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field from an accredited university required.
- 5-8 years of professional experience in retail, hospitality, commercial, workplace, or related design environments.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp and Enscape required; experience with Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering software preferred.
- Understanding of architectural and interior design documentation, space planning, material selection, and detailing.
- Familiarity with building codes, accessibility requirements, and construction documentation processes is preferred.
- Strong graphic, visual communication, and presentation skills with an eye for detail and design aesthetics.
- Ability to interpret client brand standards and translate them into engaging customer and guest experiences.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment while managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Self-motivated with a desire to learn, grow professionally, and develop expertise in retail and hospitality design.
- Experience through studio projects, or professional work in retail, restaurant, hospitality, or branded environments is preferred.
- Pursuit of professional licensure (NCIDQ or Architectural Registration) is encouraged but not required.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
Compensation: $99,000 to $120,000 per year (depending on qualifications)
