Position Summary
We are open to receive applications for a mid-level associate to join our EU Law team in our Brussels office. We welcome candidates with practical experience in one or more of our core areas: Antitrust, Mergers, Regulatory (in particular ESG and digital regulations), Foreign Subsidies Regulation and State aid.
Experience of litigation before the EU Courts (e.g. drafting pleadings, familiarity with the Courts’ procedures, experience in supporting teams in oral hearings) is an advantage.
As well as possessing excellent academic credentials, you should be commercially-minded and intellectually curious. Our Practice Areas
Our EU Law practice comprises a highly integrated, multi-disciplinary group of lawyers. Collaborating across our global network, we provide clients with seamless service and deep industry experience, often on complex mandates involving multiple specialties and jurisdictions. We advise corporations, investment banks, partnerships, trade associations, information exchanges and individuals on the full spectrum of EU Law issues in virtually all jurisdictions across the globe.
Our competition team is recognized by Chambers, Global Competition Review and other major directories as one of the world's top competition practices, we have been privileged to handle some of the most complex multijurisdictional antitrust matters of recent times.
Our EU practice has also embraced emerging areas of EU law, with flourishing practices in new areas such as the Foreign Subsidies Regulation, the Digital Markets Act, the Digital Services Act and the new wave of ESG regulation. In terms of litigation before the Court of Justice and the General Court of the EU, we have pre-eminent experience in arguing cases ranging from the textbook major competition law cases to intricate regulatory issues.

Given the strong cross-border dimension to our work, you will also be interacting regularly with lawyers across our global offices and travelling to international destinations as required.
The Roles and Responsibilities of this job include:
Drafting legal memoranda, Court pleadings or regulatory submissions with minimum supervision, ensuring diligence, precision, and attention to detail
Coordinating and reviewing the work of more junior lawyers, providing guidance and feedback on their work
Independently anticipating roadblocks and options and suggest ideas to solve issues
Playing an active role in communications with clients
Proactively manage the case to ensure timely delivery
Deepening your and others’ knowledge and skills across different practice areas and contributing to the shared knowledge of the practice
Assists in developing case strategies by analyzing legal issues and contributing to strategy discussions with senior lawyers and partners
Manages case files, organizing case materials, and ensuring deadlines and procedural requirements are met
May co-ordinate work of more junior members of the team
Helps coach and develop more junior lawyers
Qualifications and Skills
Membership of an EEA Bar (required)
Solid experience in a specialized area of law, typically with 3 - 5 years of practice post qualification in a top-tier international law firm
Experience handling complex legal tasks and contributing to the resolution of key legal matters
Excellent research, drafting and analytical skills
Solid communication and collaboration skills
