POSITION SUMMARY
Nursing care is in accordance with the client's plan of care, and includes comprehensive health and psychosocial evaluation, monitoring of client's condition, health promotion and prevention, coordination of services, teaching and training activities and provision of direct nursing care and other duties as deemed necessary.
* Candidate should have at least 1 year Home Health experience and be willing to commute to Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Allen, The Colony, Carrollton, North Dallas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assists the Registered Nurse in performing specialized procedures as directed by the Registered Nurse under physician's orders.
- Assisting the Registered Nurse in carrying out the plan of care.
- Assisting the client in learning appropriate self-care techniques.
- Assists with the preparation, implementation and continuing evaluation of the client care plan.
- Recognizes and understands the effects of social and economic problems upon clients.
- Provides for the emotional and physical comfort and safety of clients.
- Being aware of and encouraging the interests and special aptitudes of the client.
- Encouraging clients to help themselves with their own capabilities in performing activities in daily living.
- Application of the principles of prevention of deformities, the normal range of motion, body mechanics and body alignment.
- Assists the client in learning appropriate self-care techniques.
- Fosters cooperative effort among personnel by understanding the functions of other persons involved in client care and by active participation in case conferences.
- Cooperates with other agencies providing nursing or related services to provide continuity of care and to implement a comprehensive care plan.
- Always strives to improve nursing care by attending in-service education, through formal education, attendance at workshops, conferences, active participation in professional and related organizations and individual research and reading.
- Prepares clinical progress notes and ensures completion within 24 hours, medication profile updated, timely orders, etc.
- Maintains confidentiality of patients’ private health information.
- Perform wound care as ordered.
- Administer medications.
- Calculate and adjust flow rates.
- Observe and report signs of adverse reactions.
- Inspect insertion sites, change dressings, and remove peripheral/PICC/IV needles/catheters.
- Start peripheral IV's.
- Hang IV 's premixed with medications.
- Flush peripheral/PICC lines with saline or heparin solutions.

Educational Requirements and Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current license in the state of Texas.
- Current CPR certification.
- One or more years in a home health agency or hospital, home health experience preferred.
