Role Summary:

As an Associate, you will work on small deal teams to evaluate sub-investment grade credit opportunities, analyze asset portfolios, develop sophisticated pricing and valuation models, develop investment recommendations, and participate in the execution, monitoring and management of corporate bond, structured credit, and asset-backed investments.

Credit Investments currently manages assets in excess of C$70 billion; investment size ranges from $100 million to over $1 billion. The Credit Investments team has over 150 investment professionals across North America, Europe and Asia.

European Credit is focused on developing Associates into experienced, data-driven, cross-asset-class investors and leaders with a strong understanding of the deal process from origination through to exit.

Accountabilities & Qualifications:

Accountabilities

  • Research, analyze, and evaluate sub-investment grade and cross-over structured credit and loan portfolio investment opportunities across various industries, including CLOs, asset-backed loans, SRTs, and financial corporates and forward flows;

  • Build complex, dynamic financial models to analyze investment opportunities, asset portfolios and financing structures with capability to test assumptions and sensitivities and run scenario analyses and simulations;

  • Stratify and analyze large data sets to identify historical performance trends, identify key drivers and derive key assumptions for projection period;

  • Participate in asset management and monitoring of a growing portfolio, building internal reporting and risk tracking systems;

  • Review and assist in the negotiation of legal documents;

  • Prepare presentation materials and present investment recommendations to Investment Committees.

Qualifications

  • Commensurate years of experience post undergraduate studies, preferably in credit or quantitative investing with a focus in a structured or quantitative area;

  • Undergraduate degree in a technical or quantitative discipline, such as financial economics, statistics, engineering;

  • Strong quantitative, technical, financial modeling, analytical and valuation skills and expertise at modeling portfolios and structured finance opportunities;

  • Familiarity with LLMs and their uses in data processing, analysis and decision-making

  • Experience and passion for investing

  • Experience and passion for analyzing and modeling large datasets;

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;

  • Ability & flexibility to adapt to different investment asset classes, jurisdictions, and risk levels;

  • Strong interpersonal skills and business relationship skills;

  • Ability to distill complex information towards making an investment decision;

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure;

  • Team player who contributes to a high performance culture;

  • Other languages, both European and coding, a benefit
