SR. ASSOCIATION MANAGER
Annual Salary Range: $70,000 - $75,000
 
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Association Manager will work on multiple clients and bring executive presence, exceptional organization, and the ability to make sound decisions in fast-moving environments. They will spend 50% of their time leading the planning and execution of two flagship global events each year (Awards Gala and Annual Attorney Meeting), owning strategy, timelines, and delivery beginning-to-end.

This position will work closely with standing committees that run each event, the Program Committee of the Board, senior leadership, and cross-functional internal staff teams to ensure cohesive content, branding, logistics, communications, and stakeholder alignment. The Association Manager will also support two other clients in program management capacity, including overseeing events committees and internal projects and deadlines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Key Responsibilities
  • Own beginning-to-end strategy and delivery for global events, including roadmaps, critical paths, budgets, and risk management.
  • Serve as primary liaison to the Program Committee of the Board and standing committees; drive agendas, decisions, and follow-through.
  • Lead speaker and awardee management: sourcing, invitations, confirmations, briefings, and run-of-show scripts and remarks.
  • Oversee branding, logistics, marketing, and communications to ensure alignment and quality across all touchpoints.
  • Manage timelines and dependencies; coordinate with leadership and cross-functional teams to keep workstreams on track.
  • Conduct site selection by working with Etherio’s site selection team, issue RFPs, review and negotiate venue and vendor contracts for events.
  • Manage vendors and production partners; coach the photographer and creative contributors to achieve brand and content goals.
  • Review all slides, loops, programs, and materials for accuracy, clarity, and brand consistency.
  • Provide on-site leadership with strong executive presence; run cue-to-cue, green room, and day-of show flow.
  • Lead post-event debriefs; analyze post-event surveys and data; document insights and drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintain clear, timely stakeholder communications, including executive-ready updates and board-facing materials.
  • Oversee development and execution of a membership directory.

  • On-time, on-budget event/program delivery with strong satisfaction.
  • Positive stakeholder feedback and clear, consistent communications.
  • Quality and accuracy of event content and materials.
  • Actionable insights and improvements from debriefs and post-event surveys.
MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in event or program management;
  • Demonstrated executive presence with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; adept at managing complex timelines and multiple workstreams.
  • Strategic thinker with strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to spot problems / issues and proactively come up with solutions prior to the problem arising.
  • Hands-on experience with site selection, vendor management, and contract review.
  • Creative and open-minded, with the ability to coach photographers and collaborate with designers and producers.
  • Proficient in speaker preparation and run-of-show scripting.
  • Quick learner
  • Comfortable facilitating cross-functional groups and engaging senior leaders and board members.
  • Ability to work prioritize during busy time periods while working on multiple clients.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for site visits and on-site execution.

WORKPLACE LOCATION REQUIREMENTS
Preferred location is DC, but remote candidates are considered. We operate as a Hybrid work environment, working as a combination of remote and in-office presence, as well as the possibility of being onsite at client and/or event locations.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to travel at most 4 times per year.

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS
Requires flexibility in scheduling, such as the ability to work evenings and weekends to meet client, event, or company needs throughout the busy period.
Busy Period: July through April (High Busy Period – October through April.

  • Must be able to remain either in a stationary sitting position for extended periods (such as when working in the office), while also being able to stand and/or move for extended periods (such as when executing events onsite).
  • Need to lift, carry, push, or drag boxes or equipment up to 30 lbs.
  • Frequently moves inside the office to access filing cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Need to adapt and function in various physical settings (for example, conference centers, indoor and outdoor spaces).
  • Occasionally required to position self in a stooping, kneeling, or crouching manner.
  • Frequently communicates with others and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Frequently uses computers and other electronic equipment.
