Job Description

General Job Title: Claims Reinsurance Technician Division: Group Claims Reports To: Claims Team Leader and/or Claims Focus Group Leader, as per Beazley’s organisation chart Key Relationships: Claims management and staff, underwriters, insureds and brokers Job Summary: Reinsurance Technician responsible for administration and processing of proportional treaty accounts within designated authority

Key Responsibilities: Proportional Treaty Account Management Review and agree broker submitted proportional treaty accounts including paid claims, outstanding reserves, premiums, adjustment accounts and profit commissions, within designated authority

Validate financials against supporting documentation and applicable treaty terms and conditions

Identify and resolve issues on submitted accounts with underwriters, claims team and brokers as required

Refer submitted accounts requiring financial escalation within Claims team

Record financial transactions accurately on internal Claims and Underwriting systems and upload supporting documentation

Provide information on the performance of specific accounts or portfolio of accounts to claims and underwriting teams

Liaise with claims and finance teams to facilitate agreement of Proportional Treaty accounts, and to process financial transactions

Authority & Minimum Standards observance Operate within approved claims authorities at all times

Maintain a thorough knowledge of industry regulations and minimum standards

Ensure compliance with the regulations and Beazley’s claims control standards and protocols

Supporting Claims Team Support the claims team with any relevant tasks, projects or initiatives to further develop skills and understanding of the broader organisation

Operational Assist to ensure the management of claims conforms to the agreed standardised processes and use of share service functions as appropriate

Contribute to the commitment to, and active development of a continuous improvement culture within the overall claims function

Conflicts of Interest Adhere to Beazley’s Conflicts of Interest policy, alert the appropriate person to any potential conflicts of interest, and take steps to resolve them promptly

Immediately advise your Head of or Group Head of Claims if any Beazley employee seeks to exert undue influence on you or any other team member to act improperly in the management, reserving, or settlement of any claim

General Comply with Beazley procedures, policies, and regulations, including the code of conduct which incorporates the PRA and FCA Conduct Rules

Undertake training on Beazley policies and procedures as delivered by your line manager, People & Culture, or the assurance teams (compliance, risk, internal audit) either directly, via e-learning, or the learning management system

Display business ethics that uphold the interests of all our customers

Ensure all interactions with customers are focused on delivering a fair outcome

Comply with any specific responsibilities necessary for your role as outlined by your line manager, People & Culture, or the assurance teams (compliance, risk, internal audit) and ensure you keep up to date with developments in these areas

This may include, amongst others, Beazley’s claims control standards, other Beazley standards, and customer relationship management

Carry out additional responsibilities as individually notified, either through your objectives or through the learning management system

These may include membership in Beazley committees or working groups

Education and Qualifications Insurance or accounting professional qualification advantageous Skills and Abilities Analytical skills: Accurate analysis of financial statements, problem-solving, decision-making Work management skills: Ability to manage workload and time, to prioritise tasks and to meet deadlines Interpersonal skills: Client and broker management skills, Polite and Effective communication, Flexibility, Active listening Knowledge and Experience Knowledge and experience of processing and reconciling proportional treaty accounts; OR Bright ‘A’ Level student or graduate with some (re)insurance and/or accounting knowledge (full training on proportional treaty accounts will be provided) Excellent working knowledge of MS Office products to include Outlook, Word and Excel Aptitude and Disposition Self-motivated, adaptable and enthusiastic Diligent and detail-orientated Professional approach to successfully interact with colleagues and external stakeholders Competencies Analytical thinking Technical competency and expertise Problem-solving Customer-focused Influencing others Team work Self-starter
