MULTI-LANGUAGE LEARNERS (MLL) TEACHER 2026-2027 SY
Terms of Employment:  10-month, Full-time Employee 
Reports to: Manager of Curriculum and Instruction
Salary:  Current Approved Odyssey Charter School CBA Salary Scale

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Delaware License and K-12 Certification in required areas in accordance with 14 Del. C. § 1531
    • K-12 Certification in Teacher to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) or Teacher of English Learners (TEOL)
    • Successful completion of Praxis II exams 
  • Master's degree, preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of subject content, curriculum, methodology of effective teaching
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
  • Skilled in the use of multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents
  • Demonstrate skill in oral and written communications; excellent human relations skills
  • Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student
  • Monitors and evaluates student outcomes
  • Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff and community
  • Develops, selects and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students
  • Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices
  • Plans and provides small group and push-In instruction for students in order to maximize English proficiency
  • Works with district ML team and school staffs to accomplish charter's  mission and vision
  • Obtains necessary WIDA test certifications
  • Administers placement tests to determine student ML eligibility
  • Administers annual ACCESS test to ML students to determine growth in language proficiency
  • Communicates with and provides instructional strategies to regular classroom teachers enabling them to increase the learning of ML students in the regular classroom
  • Determines appropriate ML accommodations for students and support classroom teachers in their application
  • Communicates ML student progress to parents via parent conferences, IEP meetings, phone calls, etc
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
  • Prepared to plan a program of study that meets the individual needs and abilities of students
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning
  • Other duties as directed by immediate supervisor
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word
