Developing and Executing Project Plans
1) Create and Maintain project folder as per Gate Delivery Document list.
2) Provide complete and accurate data for the project visibility report.
3) Ensure that the Core Team implements the GATE activities and tasks per the NPI process.
4) Ensure that the expectations for each GATE are met before allowing the project to proceed to the next GATE.
5) Establish, track and update Project Schedule and Team Roster
6) Document commitments to customers.
7) Use the Development Change Control process to manage all changes requested to the new product.
8) Conduct Core Team meetings to review progress, status, issues and targets.
9) Coordinate, schedule, document and lead the management Gate Review and project milestone meetings.
10) Communicate all escalated priority conflicts, resource conflicts, schedule conflicts, metric outages and project holds to the Core team and Product Family team as appropriate for resolution.
11) Assign action items for all issues and outages identified to the responsible Core Team member for resolution and track them to completion.
12) Coordinate and schedule all model, engineering sample and prototype shop builds.
13) Coordinate the identification of potential time saving initiatives for the project.
14) Close out the project and conduct postmortem reviews
15) Lead the project team to meet overall project goals.
16) Identify process improvement area to improve overall project team productivity.
Managing Risk
1) Identify sources of risk.
2) Manage conflict on high risk projects.
3) Evaluate project risks from within company and from outside customers
4) Plan work to avoid or mitigate risk.
5) Create a project plan containing appropriate risk allowances and contingency plans.
6) Communicate risks, status, & responsibilities.
Building Relation-ships with Customers
1) Gain customer’s trust
2) Establish open communication and manage the project specific interface with the customer
3) Adapt to customer’s management and team changes
4) Inform customer of project developments and ensure smooth transitions during Project Team changes
5) Develop complete understanding of the customer’s business needs
6) Articulate the overall project to the customer
7) Establish business relationships with any companies that provide cost effective customer solutions
8) Maintain a broad knowledge of customer’s products and services
9) Meet commitments made to the customer
Leading the Core Team
1) Work across organizational boundaries to resolve any priority conflicts, resource conflicts, schedule conflicts, metric outages and project holds that are beyond the Core Team’s capability
2) Create team environment that supports all functional areas
4) Increase personal involvement in team activities when commitments are in jeopardy
5) Represent all levels and functions of management at project meeting, reviews, and approvals
6) Provide guidance and leadership to empower Project Team
7) Accept accountability for all project metrics: product cost, quality, schedule, interval, etc.
8) Communicate team input to appropriate individuals
9) Encourage team development through mentoring and coaching
10) Implement a consistent standardized recognition plan
11) Reinforce team member responsibilities
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Project Management; Business administration related degree is preferred. Minimum 3–5 years NPI/new product introduction project management experience in electronics/hardware manufacturing industry, with end-to-end NPI project delivery experience. Self-driven, proactive team player; excellent cross-functional communication and coordination ability, able to communicate effectively with colleagues at all organizational levels. Capable of working under high pressure, independently driving project milestones delivery, and ensuring compliance with project schedule, target cost, quality standard and product performance specifications.
