ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily shipping operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant processing of outbound and inbound shipments. This role coordinates shipping documentation, supervises clerical staff, resolves shipping issues, and serves as a key liaison between warehouse operations, carriers, and internal departments to maintain efficient logistics flow and high service standards. 
 
  • Oversees daily activities of shipping clerks, conducts training, and address performance issues to ensure productivity, accuracy, and compliance with shipping requirements. 
  • Provides day-to-day supervision, guidance, and support to drivers, ensuring adherence to safety, company policies, and delivery schedules. 
  • Expedites orders by coordinating with warehouse staff, carriers, and internal departments to meet delivery schedules and resolve any shipping issues. 
  • Handles freight and parcel claims with truck carriers and UPS, including documentation, follow-up, and resolution. 
  • Communicates and collaborates with Sales and Plating to align production completion, order priorities, and shipping schedules. 
  • Manages freight and parcel claims with truck carriers and UPS, including investigation, documentation, and follow‑up. 
  • Maintains effective communication with carriers to resolve delays, shortages, or damages. 
  • Identifies opportunities to improve shipping efficiency and reduce costs. 
  • Downloads information and approval to ship (ATS) forms into designated ERP system. 
  • Works directly with customers, carriers, and third-party logistic companies to process orders and ensure proper documentation is in place. 
  • Updates the shipping information into designated ERP system; maintains thorough knowledge of the computer programs required to perform this function. 
  • Maintains a working knowledge of product function to the extent of recognizing quality needs of each product packed for shipment. 
  • Report injuries, accidents, near misses or unsafe conditions to a supervisor or Manager immediately.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures including Health, Safety and Quality Assurance policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in shipping, logistics, transportation, or warehouse office operations.
  • Prior experience supervising or leading clerical staff and/or drivers preferred. 
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong knowledge of shipping, logistics, and transportation processes.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills, including the ability to direct, train, and support clerical staff and drivers.
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills with the ability to prioritize and expedite orders in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with drivers, carriers, and internal departments such as Sales and Plating.
  • Proven problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities, particularly in resolving shipping issues and processing claims.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in shipping documentation and compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Ability to adjust to changes without compromising Quality or Performance.
  • Mid-level computer skills to include MS Outlook and Excel; experience with Epicor system preferable.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Employee is regularly required sit for long periods; stand; talk and hear both in person and by telephone; and use hands to operate, finger, handle or feel office equipment; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The work is both physically and mentally demanding.
  • This employee is expected to be on their feet on occasion.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific sensory abilities required by this job include sight, smell, and hearing.
