Description of Work

The Museum of Art is looking for an enthusiastic Manager of Teen and College Programs to join our team! The Manager of Teen and College Programs collaborates with the Director of Outreach and Audience Engagement to implement dynamic year-round teen and college programming and to coordinate the Museum’s intern program. This position develops meaningful programs and strengthens the Museum’s relationships with teen and college students, as well as high school and college faculty. This position oversees the NCMA Teen Arts Council (TAC) including recruiting students, overseeing applications, and developing year-long syllabi. Special attention will be required as the Museum continues to grow the internship program in its capacity and diversity in an effort to encourage students into the Museum field. This position also manages the NCMA Student Gallery Guides program which trains students on a yearly basis on how to give tours of the Museum collection.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and facilitate NCMA Teen Arts Council, as well as, the College Advisory Council, coordinating participants and meetings and setting agendas.
• Provide complete project management for teen and college programs, including partner relationship management, tracking stats, production, and evaluation.
• Continue to grow engagement with community colleges and HBCUs and participate in job fairs and other recruitment opportunities.
• Organize and manage quarterly teen and college art workshops and facilitate college exhibitions.
• Manage NCMA internship program ensuring at least three annual structured, cohort-based internship cycles and managing the internship application process from start to finish.
• Maintain budget for teen and college programs; code appropriate expenses and maintain updated budget records and files.
• Collaborate across Museum departments to develop programs and experiences connected to exhibitions, public events, and institutional initiatives.

Recruitment Range: $35,596-$45,000

  • Demonstrated experience developing and/or facilitating programs for teens, college students, or adult audiences in museum, arts, educational, and/or community settings.

  • Demonstrated experience building partnerships with colleges, universities and/or community organizations.

  • Demonstrated experience with project management experience, including coordinating events, workshops, and/or public-facing programs.

  • Demonstrated experience with outreach and audience engagement practices and/or community-centered programming.

  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively across departments, creative teams, and/or institutional stakeholders.

Position/Physical Requirements

  • Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8-5, with flexibility 40 hours a week.

  • Ability to work some after hours events/weekends as needed.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Art History, Biology, Botany, Conservation, Education, History or Zoology from an appropriately accredited institution

and

Two years of museum or related work;

or

An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Division Description

The North Carolina Museum of Art is a division of the NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. The statutory purpose of the museum is to acquire, preserve, and exhibit works of art for the education and enjoyment of the people of the State, and to conduct programs of education, research and publication designed to encourage an interest in and an appreciation of art on the part of the people of the state. The state’s art collection spans more than 5,000 years, from ancient Egypt to the present, making it one of the premier art museums in the Southeast. With a 164-acre campus, the museum also has the distinction of being the nation’s largest art museum park with an extensive trail system that connects to the 63-mile Capital Area Greenway through the City of Raleigh. Facilities located within the park include two main museum buildings, a welcome center, a large outdoor performing arts facility/amphitheater, parking lots, bike trails, and greenways.

Veteran’s and National Guard Preference
