Job Description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in personnel services or related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years administrative/supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work with the entire school community (parents, teachers, administrators, students, and other related groups).
- Working knowledge of Michigan Department of Education and federal guidelines.
- Outstanding communication skills both written and oral.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to implement bargaining and labor relations strategies including "Win-Win" approach.
- Sense of humor.
- Creative problem-solving capability.
PERFORMANCE DUTIES AND RESPONSIILITIES (summary includes but is not limited to the following):
- Understands and implements Beecher Board of Education policies, administrative rules and regulations, and labor agreements with all district employee units.
- Attends Board meetings and prepares such reports and information as required.
- Assumes responsibility to be informed of changes in developments in the field by attending professional meetings, reading professional publications and discussing problems and developments of mutual interest with others in the field and university personnel.
- Assumes the responsibility for the recruitment of all personnel.
- Interviews and recommends applicants to the Superintendent who shall make presentation to the Board.
- Supervises the proper certification of all employees in accordance with certification codes.
- Supervises the development of personnel handbooks and maintains them on file.
- Responsible for the development of job descriptions for new staff positions and coordinates periodic review and revision of existing job descriptions.
- Develops and maintains a system for personnel records of school employees in order to provide an accurate, comprehensive, efficient and current record of all matters pertinent to absenteeism, employee leaves, promotions, retirement, tenure, transfer, etc.
- Designs and develops personnel forms, records, reports and systems of data processing appropriate to the needs of the district.
- Prepares and maintains appropriate statistical information on all personnel.
- Submits the necessary reports to Michigan Department of Education federal government and the Beecher Board of Education.
- Screens, selects and maintains a roster of qualified substitute teachers.
- Responsible for labor relations and strategies designed to provide a positive work environment for all employees.
- Serves as the Board's representative in contractual interpretations and grievances.
- Conducts exit interviews for all personnel leaving the district.
- Supervises orientation of new employees and initiates and administers in-service programs in conjunction with administrative staff.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Superintendent.
- The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.
REQUIREMENTS:
Newly hired employees must satisfactorily pass:
- Reference checks
- Police clearance including digital fingerprinting.
ANNUAL SALARY:
$75,000 - $80,000 annual salary. Exceptional fringe benefits available.
