
Speech-Language Pathologist
Job Description
Location: Atherton Community Schools - Districtwide, including Private Schools
Reports To: Building Principal/Supervisor of Student Services
Start Date: 2026-2027 School Year
The speech-language pathologist evaluates students to identify speech, language, voice, and communication disorders; develops and implements individualized therapy services aligned with IEP goals; provides direct and consultative services; collaborates with staff, families, and related service providers; participates in evaluations and IEP meetings; monitors student progress and maintains required documentation; supports the use of assistive communication tools as needed; and ensures compliance with all applicable state, federal, and district regulations, including medicaid billing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct screenings and assessments and provide written evaluations for suspected students with disabilities or special education students in the areas of articulation, fluency, voice, language, and autism spectrum disorders.
- Provide direct and indirect speech and language services to eligible students.
- Develop and write annual goals and short-term instructional objectives for students assigned to caseload.
- Attend and actively participate in Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and Individualized Education Planning Committee (IEPT) meetings for all students on caseload
- Compile and maintain records and written reports for students assigned to the caseload in a timely manner
- Provide inclusionary interdisciplinary service to eligible students.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisors
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in speech and language pathology
- Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) through American Speech-Language Hearing Association ASHA
- State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Board of Speech Pathology: Speech Pathology License
- Previous experiences with working with students with disabilities, their related educational needs and the IEP mandates preferred
- Demonstrate ability to successfully communicate orally and in writing.
- Ability to make decisions in accordance with Board policies and special education mandates/law with minimal supervision.
SALARY: Per Atherton Education Association contract
