As a CFD Operations Engineer, you will take ownership of the end-to-end CFD process—driving automation, improving efficiency, and ensuring robust, scalable workflows across the full simulation lifecycle. Key Responsibilities
- Developing and optimising the complete CFD workflow, from geometry preparation through to post-processing.
- Driving automation and process improvements to enhance efficiency, repeatability, and scalability.
- Leading meshing strategy development, improving quality, robustness, and turnaround time.
- Running and analysing baseline simulations (wind tunnel and track configurations) to support aerodynamic development.
- Ensuring strong process governance, including version control, traceability, and reproducibility.
- Collaborating with Aerodynamics, IT, and HPC teams to optimise CFD integration and performance.
- Identifying opportunities to improve throughput, speed, and data quality.
- Supporting regulatory compliance, including FIA audit requirements.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Aerodynamics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of the CFD simulation lifecycle and best practices.
- Proven experience in CFD process development, workflow optimisation, and meshing strategies.
- Programming skills in Python for automation and tool development.
- Experience with CAD tools (ideally CATIA) for geometry preparation and manipulation.
- Expertise in post-processing tools, data analysis, and visualisation.
- Familiarity with HPC environments and job scheduling systems.
- Strong analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities.
- A proactive, structured approach with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and collaborate across teams.
- Experience in Formula One or high-performance motorsport is advantageous.
