Job Description
Position: Unified Arts Associate
Reports To: Senior Director of Teaching and Learning
Primary Function: To represent the Office of Teaching and Learning in all areas related to the identification and design of curricular materials and resources, as well as instructional planning and delivery. The Unified Arts Associate, grades K-12, will serve as the expert resource, coach and mentor to all schools within the Red Clay Consolidated School District in the designated curricular areas.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Assist the Senior Director of Teaching and Learning in creating and communicating procedures that illustrate how various curriculum resources support content specific pedagogical approaches; demonstrate horizontal and vertical articulation of existing curricular resources.
- Serve as a member of the Teaching and Learning Leadership Team.
- Create and modify district curriculum guides in the designated areas of responsibility to ensure alignment to State content standards.
- Co-Chair District Curriculum Councils for Health and Physical Education, Visual Arts, and Performing Arts Teams
- Provide leadership for Continuous Improvement Planning for specific schools as assigned by the Senior Director of Teaching and Learning.
- Plan and implement effective professional development programs for teachers in designated curricular areas inclusive of driver education, elementary and secondary visual arts, general music, elementary and secondary instrumental music, elementary and secondary choral music, dance education, theatre arts, beginning band and strings, and elementary and secondary health and physical education
- Provide direct service and support to new teachers in the various areas of responsibility.
- Identify, coach and work with teacher leaders to support educators in all areas of supervision.
- Participate in ongoing and proposed curriculum development projects in the various areas of responsibility.
- Collaborate with the Office of Communications to provide outreach to the community for all performing and visual arts events.
- Collaborate with various Community Arts Organizations (Delaware Institute for Arts in Education (DIAE), DE Theater Company, Opera DE, The Delaware Symphony Orchestra, First State Ballet Theater, Delaware Art Museum, Clifford Brown Band, Delaware Division of the Arts, The Grand Opera House, Christina Cultural Arts Center, and the DE Arts Alliance.
- Plan and implement specialized programs including District Choral and Band Festivals, District Art Shows (both online and in person), and serve as the Liaison for the RC Arts Alliance.
- Attend and support school level visual and performing arts events across the District.
- Serve as Co-Chair for the Red Clay Arts Alliance to support arts programs in Title 1 Schools across Red Clay.
- Other Duties as assigned by Senior Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of an undergraduate/graduate degree in education; Masters' degree preferred.
- Demonstrated teaching experience (a minimum of 3 years).
- Holds or is eligible for administrative licensure in the State of DE.
- Possesses knowledge of standards in the following areas: Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Health and Physical Education, and Driver Education
- Experienced in providing professional development to adults in both elementary and secondary settings.
- Possesses the necessary expertise and interpersonal skills to mentor and coach district teachers in multiple areas.
- Able to provide feedback formally and informally to educators through the DTGSS Process
- Able to work as an effective member of a collaborative team.
