Transformation Relationship Manager, Tax Transformation Office
Job Description
Putting people first, every day
BDO is a firm built on a foundation of positive relationships with our people and our clients. Each day, our professionals provide exceptional service, helping clients with advice and insight they can trust. In turn, we offer an award-winning environment that fosters a people-first culture with a high priority on your personal and professional growth.
Your Opportunity
We are expanding the Tax Transformation Office and are seeking a Transformation Relationship Manager (TRM) to help drive the next phase of Tax modernization across the practice.
This is a net new role and is ideal for someone who combines strong business acumen with a passion for transformation, technology, AI, automation, and operational improvement. The successful candidate will act as a strategic partner between the business, Tax Transformation Office, and delivery teams — helping identify opportunities, shape priorities, and translate transformation strategy into practical execution.
The TRM role is not a traditional project management or operational support function. This individual will operate as a business-facing transformation leader who understands the realities of tax delivery while helping modernize how work gets done across people, process, data, and technology.
Each Transformation Relationship Manager (TRM) will align to one or more Tax sub-service lines, serving as the strategic relationship lead between the business and the Tax Transformation Office. The role will work closely with business leaders and practitioners to understand operational priorities, identify modernization opportunities, and help drive alignment between business needs and the broader Tax Transformation roadmap and Total Tax Ecosystem vision.
This role will partner closely with Tax leadership, Innovation & Change, Data & Analytics, and the Tax R&D Lab to help shape and execute the future of Tax delivery across the practice.
Key Responsibilities
Business Relationship Management & Strategic Partnership
Act as a trusted advisor and strategic liaison between assigned Tax sub-service lines and the Tax Transformation Office
Build strong relationships with business leaders and practitioners to understand operational challenges, strategic priorities, and growth opportunities
Represent the operational realities of the business and ensure transformation efforts are grounded in how work actually gets done
Help identify and prioritize opportunities across workflow, technology, AI, automation, data, and operating model evolution
Translate business needs and pain points into actionable transformation initiatives and roadmap priorities
Ensure solutions are practical, scalable, and aligned to operational realities
Transformation Strategy, Design Thinking & Roadmap Support
Partner with the Strategy & Planning team in the Tax Transformation Office to support the development and execution of the Tax Transformation strategy, vision, and roadmap
Translate enterprise transformation priorities into sub‑service‑line–relevant opportunities and initiatives
Partner with the Strategy & Planning team to facilitate discovery sessions, design-thinking workshops, and working groups to surface business needs and inform roadmap decisions
Support teams in reimagining workflows, operating models, and service delivery through structured, collaborative problem-solving
Contribute business insight to transformation planning, prioritization, and business case development
Identify opportunities for standardization, scalability, and enterprise alignment, distinguishing what is unique versus reusable
Bring a connected, enterprise mindset to help shape future-state ways of working and operating models
Innovation, AI & Technology Enablement
Work closely with the Tax R&D Lab and Innovation teams to identify and validate emerging opportunities
Help bridge the gap between business problems and technology capabilities
Support exploration and application of AI, automation, workflow redesign, and digital solutions within Tax
Participate in ideation sessions, pilot initiatives, experimentation efforts, and solution validation activities
Stay informed on market trends, emerging technologies, and external ecosystem developments relevant to Tax Transformation
Bring forward ideas and opportunities that can modernize delivery, improve client experience, and unlock operational efficiency
Execution & Change Enablement
Support initiatives from concept through implementation and adoption
Partner with delivery teams, business stakeholders, and Innovation & Change to help move initiatives forward
Help identify blockers, dependencies, risks, and operational considerations early
Support stakeholder engagement, communication, rollout planning, and change adoption activities
Help ensure transformation efforts remain focused on measurable business value and operational outcomes
Act as a connector between strategy and execution — ensuring initiatives translate into meaningful operational change
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will bring a combination of operational credibility, strategic thinking, facilitation capability, and transformation mindset.
You are someone who:
Understands the realities of tax delivery and professional services operations
Thinks strategically while remaining highly practical and execution-oriented
Has strong relationship management, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills
Is comfortable leading workshops, guiding discussions, and driving collaborative problem solving

Thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments with a high degree of collaboration
Is comfortable navigating ambiguity and helping shape direction where needed
Can influence across teams and build alignment across diverse stakeholder groups
Brings curiosity, initiative, and a continuous improvement mindset
Qualifications & Experience
Experience within Tax, professional services, consulting, transformation, operations, or related business environments
Experience facilitating workshops, business discussions, stakeholder sessions, or transformation initiatives preferred
Experience working across business and technology stakeholders preferred
Exposure to transformation initiatives, process improvement, technology enablement, or change management considered an asset
Strong communication, facilitation, problem-solving, and relationship management skills
Demonstrated ability to think strategically while driving practical execution

The expected range of compensation for this role is: $82,000 to $138,000.
