About the Role
The Spiral Wound Relining Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of spiral wound relining equipment and associated systems used in the rehabilitation of sewer and drainage pipelines. The role supports the delivery of trenchless renewal projects by undertaking installation activities, equipment operation, inspections and maintenance tasks while ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality requirements and company procedures.
The Operator works as part of a site crew under the direction of the Foreman or Supervisor and contributes to achieving safety, quality, productivity and customer service objectives
Key responsibilities include:
- Safety & Compliance:
- Perform all work in accordance with company HSEQ requirements, SWMS, permits and client specifications.
- Participate in daily pre-starts, toolbox meetings and safety briefings.
- Identify and report hazards, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions.
- Comply with confined space entry, traffic management, manual handling and environmental requirements.
- Maintain a safe and clean worksite at all times.
- Spiral Wound Relining Operations
- Operate spiral wound relining equipment and associated plant in accordance with approved procedures and manufacturer requirements.
- Assist with mobilisation, setup, operation and demobilisation of relining equipment.
- Monitor installation activities and adjust equipment settings as directed to achieve quality installation outcomes.
- Assist with liner installation, locking systems, grouting activities and associated rehabilitation works.
- Conduct pre-installation and post-installation inspections as required.
- Equipment and Asset Management
- Perform daily pre-start inspections on plant, vehicles and equipment.
- Maintain relining equipment in a clean, serviceable and operational condition.
- Report equipment defects and maintenance requirements promptly.
- Assist with routine servicing and maintenance activities.
- Quality Assurance
- Complete installation activities in accordance with project specifications, approved methodologies and quality requirements.
- Assist in recording installation data, production records and quality documentation.
- Identify and report quality issues or defects to the Foreman or Supervisor.
- Support testing, inspection and acceptance activities as required.
- Team Participation
- Work collaboratively with Foremen, Supervisors, Operators and subcontractors.
- Assist other crew members with site establishment, bypass pumping, confined space activities and general project tasks as required.
- Participate in training and development activities to enhance technical skills and operational capability.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and productivity enhancements.
About You
- Experience working within civil construction, utilities, water, wastewater or trenchless rehabilitation environments.
- Experience operating construction plant, equipment or specialist rehabilitation equipment.
- Experience working within safety-critical environments and following established work procedures.
- Previous experience operating spiral wound relining equipment.
- Experience in sewer rehabilitation, pipeline renewal or trenchless construction.
- Experience working in confined spaces and live sewer environments.
- Experience with bypass pumping operations and sewer network maintenance activities.
