Job Description
When it comes to welding education, you have choices. Some programs give you just enough preparation to work in the field. With the college credit Welding program at Greenville Technical College, you are not giving your skills a quick fix. Instead, you will study the fundamentals or pursue more specialized skills in a well-equipped facility where experienced, certified instructors help you lay the foundation for a lifelong career. This program trains students in the fundamentals of basic welding and print reading. The program is designed to familiarize beginning welders and those outside the welding profession with basic fundamentals of GTAW, SMAW, GMAW and basic blue print reading. The Welding program is accredited by the National Center for Construction Research (NCCER). There are 6 full-time faculty plus supplemental adjunct instructors in the program. Program options include Welding - Certificate in Applied Science; Robotic Welding Fundamentals - Certificate in Applied Science; and Welding, Specialized - Certificate in Applied Science. In this challenging role, you will support the Welding Department at Greenville Technical College by training welders according to the Catalog of Approved Courses (CAC) guidelines and nationally recognized welding codes and procedures. Duties may include any or all of the following: Teach and train welders according to the Catalog of Approved Courses (CAC) guidelines, the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Contren Learning Series, and nationally recognized welding codes and procedures Conduct written and hands-on tests honestly and fairly Maintain student safety Maintain appropriate paperwork in accordance with keeping student files up-to-date Advise students on academic progress Maintain competence through continuous professional development Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
