CanCap has made significant investments in its operations, IT infrastructure and processes to allow for robust, scalable and efficient on-going growth of origination and servicing activity across the consumer finance spectrum. CanCap’s excellence has also been recognized by a Schedule I bank whereby it is the primary partner for outsourcing a full line of business, the primary source of direct auto loan referrals, and for creating a unique consumer lending business platform. CanCap has also been recognized by another Schedule I bank as a partner for outsourcing repossession and remarketing services for its auto receivable portfolio.
Job Description
CanCap has the immediate need for a skilled and energetic Senior Financial Analyst, reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance & Operations. The Senior Financial Analyst will play an important role in ensuring the integrity of CanCap’s financial reporting, maintaining robust internal controls, and delivering timely, accurate financial information to support decision-making. This includes:
- Financial Reporting & Close Process
- Completion of full cycle accounting activities under ASPE and IFRS accounting standards including, preparation or review of monthly journal entries and supporting schedules
- Lead and support the month-end and year-end close processes across multiple entities.
- Analyze financial results and variances, providing clear commentary on business performance.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal stakeholders and senior management.
- Balance Sheet Integrity & Reconciliations
- Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations monthly, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Maintain supporting documentation and ensure audit readiness of all reconciliations.
- Continuously improve reconciliation processes through standardization and automation.
- Preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual tax reporting (indirect taxes, corporate and partnership taxes)
- Support annual external audit compiling required data and information and liaising with external audit team
- Assist with implementation of automation and efficiency improvement opportunities
- Reconciliation of intercompany accounts
- Proactively identify and address the root cause of issues encountered during performance of tasks / analytical reviews and communicate effectively – orally and in writing
- Cross-Functional Collaboration -
- Working closely with Operations, Finance Operations, Accounts payable and other business units to gather financial data and provide insights.
- Communicate financial information clearly to non-finance teams.
- Process Improvement & Technology Utilization
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of financial processes.
- Leverage financial systems, ERP tools, and data analytics platforms to streamlining workflows.
- Support automation initiatives and digital transformation within the finance function.
- Champion best practices in data management and reporting.
- Other projects, duties, and tasks as assigned from time to time
What you bring
- 3+ years relevant work experience in the financial services field
- Full cycle accounting experience
- Post-secondary education with a specialization in Finance or Accounting
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.)
- CPA or CPA equivalent designation is an asset, but not a must
- Experience working in a multi-entity or complex organizational structure is an asset.
- Experience with Sage 300 ERP or similar accounting software is an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills - ability to present financial information clearly.
- Adaptability & Learning Agility: Ability to quickly understand new concepts, systems, and business models in a fast-paced environment.
- Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment and across departments.
- Ownership & Accountability: Takes initiative and responsibility for delivering high-quality work within deadlines.
