Arts and Sciences | Political ScienceThe Department of Political Science at The Ohio State University invites applications for a Post Doctoral Scholar position. Successful applicants will have research interests in AI in Politics and Society. Based in Columbus, Ohio, the position will begin in the Autumn of 2026 for a one-year term.
Preferred applicants will have the promise of a sustained and substantial body of work developing and utilizing data analytic and/or artificial intelligence tools for the analysis of socio-political questions. The position is open with respect to substantive focus or disciplinary subfield in Political Science.
This position is part of the investment of The Ohio State University Provost in the Department of Political Science in Socio-Political Analysis and AI: Socio-Political Analysis and AI (SPAI)
Responsibilities include conducting research on advanced topics in the application of data analytics and AI to social scientific questions and engaging with interdisciplinary efforts focused on data analytics and/or AI, including relevant field seminars. The hired applicant will also help further the Department of Political Science’s mission to become a center for excellence in data analytics and AI by conducting two or more workshops on tools and/or applications in the field and consulting on data analytics as appropriate and in accordance with their expertise.
Minimum Education Required
A doctoral degree in Political Science or a relevant field is required. ABDs are welcome to apply but must have PhD in hand prior to the start date of this position.
Required Qualifications
Must have the capacity to integrate methodological insights with substantive research demonstrated through a record of and/or a promise of scholarly excellence.

The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest college and the academic heart of the university. The College hosts 81 majors. The pay for this position is $75,000.00. Because scholars are expected to be fully integrated with the intellectual life of the university, they must plan to reside in the Columbus, OH area during the relevant academic year of this appointment.
