
Financial Counselor/T-SHIP Coordinator - Sign-On Bonus $2500
Job Description
$2,500 sign on bonus, terms: paid in one (1) lump sum after 3 month probationary period.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To provide financial assistance to patients by directing them to different funding sources such as Medicare, Medicaid, Healthcare Exchange, VA health benefits, Sliding Fee Scale, and Tribally-Sponsored Health Insurance Programs (T-SHIP).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED required. College-level courses in accounting and accounts receivable preferred.
- One (1) year of experience, working in an office setting with health insurance experience to include Medicaid, Medicare or the Health Insurance Marketplace, performing data entry, customer service, in-person and on-phone customer interactions, email correspondence with members of the team and other members of the organization as well as outside agencies.
- Must be capable of mastering outpatient screenings for referred patients.
- Must have successfully mastered two (2) of the following areas of health benefit specialist (HBS) duties and have a combined total of two (2) years of experience in those areas. Experience at an outside agency may be included but will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
- Inpatient screening.
- Outpatient screening.
- Purchased Referred Care screening and enrollment.
- Tribally-Sponsored Health Insurance Program (T-SHIP).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develops a thorough understanding of Indian Health Services, Federal and State of Alaska Subsidy programs and grants to assist patients in obtaining benefits (such as Medicare and Medicaid).
- Reviews emergency and inpatient admissions for financial resources and correct patients’ demographics daily.
- Interviews uninsured and underinsured patients and/or representatives by telephone or
- Identifies, recruits and executes participation agreements with eligible patients.
- Supports and assists sponsored patients to enroll in a designated Marketplace health plan.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a normal office setting. Must be able to see, hear, speak, walk, sit, bend, kneel, and lift and carry up to 10 pounds with or without accommodation.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time position, schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some weekends or evening hours are necessary in emergency situations.
