What you’ll do:
This role will provide Technical & Strategic leadership for Mechanical Reliability & Safety (R&S) within the Enterprise Center of Excellence (CoE). The position is accountable for defining and deploying enterprise‑wide Reliability and Safety strategies, anchoring DfR (Design for Reliability) & DfS (Design for Safety) practices across all Eaton businesses. The leader will collaborate with Product Engineering & other CoEs to proactively identify, manage, and mitigate reliability and safety risks across New Technology Introductions (NTI), New Product Introductions (NPI), and existing products.
Key responsibilities include establishing & executing Mechanical R&S roadmap, and expanding the application of R&S practices to untouched areas. Additionally, he/she will also drive improvements in field performance through warranty reduction initiatives." "Eaton India Innovation Center (EIIC) is seeking a Specialist Engineer – Mechanical Reliability & Safety (R&S). This position is based at our office in Magarpatta City, Pune. The role is expected to provide technical and thought leadership across multiple Reliability & Safety initiatives and partner closely with leadership to develop and execute the R&S technology roadmap.
Key responsibilities include:- Serve as a subject matter expert and technical leader in Mechanical Reliability & Safety (R&S).
- Define, establish, and deploy an enterprise-wide R&S technology strategy aligned with Eaton’s business priorities and growth areas.
- Mentor R&S teams working on NPI, NTI, and sustaining engineering projects, and act as a work package approver for the Aerospace business.
- Collaborate closely with the Enterprise Engineering Office of the Chief Engineer to advance technology adoption across the organization.
- Apply industry best practices and DfX principles within engineering projects.
- Develop proposals for R&S capability development initiatives and lead execution of approved capability development projects.
- Develop and maintain the Reliability & Safety (R&S) roadmap, addressing short-term priorities as well as long-term capability building.
- Leverage and synergize engineering capabilities across multiple Centers of Excellence (CoEs).
- Track statutory requirements and market trends related to R&S, and proactively apply insights to improve R&S processes across Eaton."
Qualifications:
Masters / PhD degree in Mchanical Engineering/ Reliability Engineering
Masters with 12+ relevant experience or PhD with 10+ relevant Reliability experience.
Skills:
- Deep understanding of DFR & DFS processes and its application
- Expertise in the areas of reliability statistics, FTA/FMEA, 8D tools , experience with any industry proven reliability analysis suite of tools
- Preferred to have understanding of ARP4761, DO254, UL991 and FuSa professional"
