The University is seeking highly skilled professionals to join the Laboratory Services (LS) Unit within the Campus Management Office. This position supports the head of laboratory services (Development) in planning and designing both existing and new laboratory facilities, in line with the University’s goal of providing modern, suitable, and sustainable laboratories for world-class researchers.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in redesigning and refurbishing existing laboratory spaces, and planning new buildings to attract top academics and enhance research, teaching, and learning.
  • Collaborate with academics and their representatives to refine laboratory designs that comply with statutory requirements, particularly in electrical distribution network design, advocating for optimal lab functionality.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding design development, accurately reflecting the needs of laboratory users.
  • Support budget estimation and tender issuance for contracts, procurement of specialized laboratory furniture, and related mechanical and electrical services and equipment, ensuring compliance with University and governmental regulations.
  • Monitor site activities, including material submissions, program development, risk assessments, work permits, and service shutdown notifications.
  • Coordinate project implementation among internal and external team members, identifying key milestones and regularly updating progress throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage post-installation activities, including testing, commissioning, defect rectification, and handover to the LS Maintenance Team.
  • Facilitate the transition for lab users after handover by coordinating fitting-out tasks, such as equipment setup and termination.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by senior management.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have: 

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline. 
  • Professional registration (e.g., *HKIE / CEng*) is preferred. 
  • A Grade A Certificate of Registration as an Electrical Worker is also preferred. 
  • At least 6 years of relevant project management experience in a consultancy or contracting firm specializing in electrical design and installation for new build and A&A projects, including laboratory and hospital projects. 
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office.
  • Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in both spoken and written English and Chinese, possess strong analytical and organizational skills, effective communication and interpersonal abilities, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to work independently.

Duration: 2 years (Renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.  A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
