Job Description
Job Overview
Sets up and operates a variety of machine shop tools to make or repair all types of metal parts and equipment. Program, set-up programs and fixturing for CNC equipment (VMC), operate inspection equipment (calipers, micrometer, etc.) Ability to set up tooling and enter tool offsets. Perform some trigonometry functions when needed. Must possess understanding of surface feet per minute to calculate speed and feeds for tooling.
Tools: CNC equipment (VMC), operate inspection equipment, hand tools, cranes, lift trucks, grinders, manual lathe, drill presses, universal mills, saws, micrometers, hoists, dial indicators, verniers, layout tools, welders, etc.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Re-grinds and sharpens tools as required.
- Performs minor maintenance and repair on equipment.
- When required, spot welds.
- Obeys all safety rules and performs housekeeping assignments.
- Cross-functional work force.
- Maintains machine tooling and jigs in an orderly fashion. Requisitions parts and supplies as needed.

Qualifications/Requirements
- Two years machine shop experience is preferred. This does not include vocational school experience. Experience in turning, boring, facing and thread cutting.
- Use basic math / trigonometry
- Perform metric conversions
- Read engineering drawings
- Use measuring tape
- Use micrometer
- Use caliper
- Use dial indicators
- Use depth mics
- Use feeler gauges
- Proper operation of fork truck
- Proper operation of cranes
- Safety training (SafeStart, Haz-Com, Lock Out / Tag Out, PPE, MSDS, Housekeeping, Lifting, Electrical)
- Knowledgeable / compliant with ISO requirements
- Operate drill
- Proper operation of universal mill
- Operate Bridgeport CNC
- Proficient Computer Skills
- Calibration of instruments
