Incident and Investigation Lead - child safety
Job Description
Lead the end-to-end management of child safety incidents and investigations, ensuring children’s safety, voices, and best interests are at the centre of all actions, decisions, and outcomes.
- Assess and respond to child safety risks, providing expert advice, escalating high-risk matters, and supporting consistent, trauma-informed practice across services
- Lead the intake, triage, and reporting of child-related incidents and complaints, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Conduct and oversee internal investigations (including reportable conduct matters), delivering high-quality reports, recommendations, and outcomes
- Coach and uplift organisational capability in child safeguarding, strengthening a proactive and transparent reporting culture
- Analyse data, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement in child safety practices, processes and organisational standards
- Tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, law, early childhood or a related field
- Proven experience managing complex investigations and child safety incidents
- Strong knowledge of Victorian Child Safe Standards, Reportable Conduct and mandatory reporting
- Demonstrated ability to drive child safety initiatives and ensure compliance
- Excellent communication, emotional intelligence, and ability to work in sensitive, high-pressure environments
