Job Description
Job Function: Engineering
Job Family: Software Engineering
The opportunity
Otometrics (a division of Natus Sensory) builds audiology devices that help clinicians make better decisions for their patients. Our R&D organization develops the software, hardware, and systems behind those devices — and we are at an inflection point in how AI shapes that work.
We are looking for an AI Developer & Platform Lead to join our R&D team in Denmark. This is a dual-mandate role: you will build AI capability directly into our products, and you will build the shared infrastructure that makes AI adoption compound across the organization. Both halves matter equally.
This role sits at the intersection of hands-on AI engineering and organizational platform thinking. You will be the person who shapes how AI is adopted across Otometrics R&D — not just the person who implements features. If that breadth appeals to you, read on.
What you will do
On the product side, you will develop and integrate AI features into our product platforms. You will work closely with software engineers, systems engineers, and product management to identify where AI can meaningfully improve user experience and patient outcomes.
On the platform side, you will own the shared AI infrastructure that the Otometrics R&D teams depend on — data connectors to authoritative sources such as PLM, test management, and regulatory document repositories, shared agent runtimes and reusable components, and the governance and data residency controls that make AI use safe and sustainable in a regulated medical device environment. You will serve a central member of the Otometrics R&D AI Board, maintaining the initiative register, supporting KPI tracking, and coordinating between teams to ensure that every approved initiative contributes shared components back to the platform.
Over time, as AI adoption scales across the organization, this role has the potential to grow into leading a small AI engineering team.
What we are looking for
You have proven experience building and deploying AI solutions in a production environment — working with LLM APIs, agent frameworks, retrieval-augmented generation, or similar. You are comfortable moving between writing code and thinking about architecture.
You understand what it means to build shared infrastructure that others depend on. You think about reusability, versioning, and the difference between a one-off implementation and a platform component.
You are organizationally mature enough to operate in a governance context — presenting to a leadership board, maintaining a register, facilitating cross-team coordination — without finding that work bureaucratic or uninteresting.
You are either familiar with regulated software development environments — IEC 62304, medical device quality systems, or similar — or you are the kind of engineer who takes compliance constraints seriously rather than treating them as obstacles.
You are based in Denmark or willing to relocate. This role is 40% onsite with our R&D team.
What we offer
A rare combination of hands-on AI engineering and organizational influence. You will not be implementing someone else's AI strategy — you will be building it alongside the Head of R&D and a leadership team that is genuinely committed to getting this right.
A technically serious environment. Our products are Class I and II medical devices developed under IEC 62304. The engineering problems are real and the quality bar is high.
A role with room to grow. As AI adoption matures across R&D, there is a clear path toward leading a dedicated AI engineering team.
A collaborative, international team based in Denmark.
