Salary: $42,000 – $45,000 annually (commensurate with experience and adjusted for market location)

Position Summary
The Assistant Curator of Art is responsible for assisting the Curator of Art in stewarding, researching, and developing the art collection of Museum of the Bible. This includes organizing quarterly art advisory council meetings, keeping minutes at those meetings, overseeing scheduling, coordinating additions to the collections website and TMS database, assisting in research and provenance, cataloging, and any other duties as assigned. This role will also include assisting the Curator of Art in developing dynamic on-site and traveling exhibitions that support the Museum’s mission and elevate the reputation of the Museum as a vital forum to explore the history, narrative and impact of the Bible on art.

This role will also include assisting the Curator of Art in developing dynamic on-site and traveling exhibitions that support the Museum’s mission and elevate the reputation of the Museum as a vital forum to explore the history, narrative and impact of the Bible on art.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Curator of Art in managing the art collection as it grows. This includes cataloging new acquisitions with photos, measurements, and other pertinent data, and working with our registrars to keep TMS and Piction updated.
- Assist in scheduling and organizing quarterly art advisory council meetings. This includes communication with members of the council, coordination of schedules, and keeping minutes.
- Assist in developing a roster of traveling exhibitions and work with the website team to build out a webpage for this purpose.
- Assist in upcoming temporary art exhibitions as needed.
- Assist in the care of objects in the subject specialty, arranging for conservation, imaging, or research as needed.
- Work with the department of education on useful programs that contribute to exhibitions or collections, aimed at engaging new and diverse audiences.
- Coordinate with other departments in the implementation of interpretive materials, publicity materials, and products.
- Assist in research of art objects in the museum’s collection and maintain provenance documentation as well as records.
- Assist in the coordination of conservation of the art in the museum’s collection.
- As needed, assist the collections staff in installation and de-installation of temporary and traveling exhibitions.
- Champion the Museum of the Bible’s mission to invite all people to engage with the transformative power of the Bible.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education / Qualifications:
Education:
- Master’s degree in art, art history, museum studies, or a related field. Advanced degree and museum experience preferred.

- Commitment to the Museum’s mission of inviting all people to engage with the Bible.
- Knowledge of biblical art.
- Experience working collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to manage tasks efficiently and collaboratively, keeping projects on time and on budget.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in lecturing, teaching, and public speaking.
- Experience working in a museum or archive.
- Ability to communicate effectively with software developers for technological needs.
Competencies:
- Ability to communicate effectively with people from all backgrounds.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and database software.
- Ability to plan and deliver work and projects to budget and schedule.
Work Environment / Physical Demands:
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
