Job Title: Human Resources (HR) Associate
Division / Department: Administration / Human Resources
Location: Washington DC
Schedule: Full-Time, to include evenings and weekends as required by your supervisor.
FLSA: Exempt
Reporting Manager: Human Resources Director
Travel: Some
Salary: $58,000-$65,000, Depending on Experience* Adjusted to local market rates.
- Provide administrative HR support, such as HR data entry, employment verifications, mailings, etc.
- Work with HR team on projects to systemize & update all aspects of HR in the employee journey
- Update employee-facing digital boards with monthly themes, welcomes, birthdays & anniversaries, congratulations & other information
- Execute employee recognition programs
- Co-lead Fun Committee activities to promote employee engagement & culture; oversee planning, advertising/socializing, budgets, purchasing, implementation & clean-up
- Working with the executive administration team, coordinate & purchase office supplies
- Assist with timely full-cycle recruitment for assigned positions with minimal supervision, including:
- Job description preparation
- Salary benchmarking
- Hiring manager intake meeting
- Job posting
- Screening & interview coordination (internal & external)
- Negotiations & job offer
- Background checks / Reference checks
- Onboarding, including I-9 employment authorization & E-Verify
- New Hire Orientation (NHO-prepare & conduct)
- HRIS updates
- Keep abreast HR laws (federal, state & local) and help to ensure compliance, including updates to labor law posters
- Champion the Museum of the Bible’s mission to invite all people to engage with the transformative power of the Bible.
- As required, inclusion in official or incidental photographs and videos for MOTB and/or guests.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in an HR generalist role, with a focus on recruitment
- Knowledge of employment laws, especially DC regulations, a plus
- HR certification (SHRM or HRCI) a plus; or plans to pursue one.
- Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal; comfortable with public speaking
- Enjoys and adept at graphic design & PowerPoint
- General understanding of all facets of Human Resources and the ability to learn the ever-changing HR law and landscape
- Some experience with & understanding of recruitment, from intake, posting and sourcing through offer negotiations, onboarding and new hire orientation
- Strong software skills, including Microsoft Office Suite & HRIS (Paycor a plus)—able to learn it quickl
- Self-driven, proactive, a quick learner & able to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Fun & creative to enhance teamwork & culture
- Detailed & process-oriented; accurate with data entry
- Able to drive (current driver’s license) & do shopping for company activities
- Able to stoop, stand, climb, and occasionally lift a minimum of 30 lbs. as required.
Pay Range: $58,000 - $65,000 per year
