Key Responsibilities
Mandate:
Under the supervision of the manager, the Project Engineer / Reliability Engineer will be responsible for leading maintenance engineering projects while carrying out reliability analyses and initiatives for building equipment at Pratt & Whitney Canada facilities.
The Project Manager must be organized and able to mobilize teams. They must demonstrate strong adaptability, good communication skills, and solid leadership. Due to the nature of the role, they must also be able to clearly define project scope, objectives, and the steps required for successful execution. These qualities will enable them to perform the following duties:
Deliver engineering projects across various company sites (may require travel depending on project locations), while respecting costs, timelines, and assigned mandates
Be responsible for project delivery in accordance with schedules, budgets, procurement processes, and expected deliverables
Manage contractors for maintenance projects, including: risk analysis, application of company Health & Safety rules (cardinal rules), issuing work permits, monitoring schedules, overseeing work execution, and project close-out
Lead projects arising from both the maintenance and engineering groups
Coordinate, communicate, and document all work under their responsibility
Work closely with internal clients
Read technical drawings and prepare reports on meetings and/or project progress
In addition, the person in this role will analyze, implement improvements, and archive equipment service reports. They will conduct research on breakdown history and implement solutions related to parts management, suppliers, etc. These responsibilities include:
Research and implement solutions based on industry best practices in maintenance
Lead and facilitate operational reliability workshops and coordinate the implementation of solutions (ORC – Operational Reliability Clinics)
Provide coaching and guidance on reliability best practices to the maintenance technician team, in collaboration with maintenance coordinators and plant managers
Actively participate in continuous improvement programs related to plant reliability performance
Serve as a role model for health and safety and reinforce safe behaviors in the plant
Demonstrate rigor and proactivity, and support the execution of preventive maintenance activities
Analyze maintenance results and develop action plans to eliminate root causes of recurring failures using appropriate analytical tools
Desired Profile
Bachelor’s degree in Building Engineering or a related field (primarily Electrical or Mechanical Engineering), or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience in maintenance and reliability of equipment, as well as building mechanical and electrical systems
Proficient in French, both spoken and written
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the manufacturing sector, in project management or in building/electromechanical equipment maintenance
Strong understanding of preventive maintenance concepts
Knowledge of continuous improvement tools (Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma)
Knowledge of CNESST regulations applicable to project execution
Proficiency in AutoCAD
Knowledge of MS Office suite, including MS Project
Familiarity with SAP PM module
PMP certification is considered an asset
