About the role

Ansvar Australia, who are proudly part of the Benefact Group, are looking for a Senior Claims Consultant - Property to join our Melbourne office.

The Senior Claims Consultant – Property is responsible for the end-to-end management of a portfolio of property claims, ensuring timely, accurate, and commercially sound outcomes that are aligned with policy coverage and organisational objectives. The role requires a strong focus on delivering exceptional customer service, acting as a trusted point of contact for brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders, and maintaining clear, proactive communication throughout the claims lifecycle.

In addition, the Senior Claims Consultant – Property will provide support to the Claims Leader – Property and the General Manager Claims, assisting with broader team initiatives, projects, and operational requirements as needed, and contributing to continuous improvement and team capability uplift.

What you'll be doing

  • Manage a portfolio of property claims, including material damage matters, ensuring technically accurate, policy-aligned, and commercially sound outcomes within delegated authority.

  • Oversee the end-to-end claims process, including reserving, exposure management, and participation in mediations, site meetings, and settlement discussions where required.

  • Deliver exceptional customer and broker service, acting as a key point of contact, building strong relationships, and providing timely, transparent communication on claim progress and outcomes.

  • Support claims governance and continuous improvement, including reserving accuracy, process optimisation, service provider performance, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Contribute to team capability and business outcomes, sharing industry insights, supporting colleagues through coaching and knowledge transfer, and actively participating in strategic initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Analytical thinking and sound judgement – interprets data, assesses risk, solves complex problems, and makes balanced, well-informed decisions.

  • Customer-focused with high performance drive – demonstrates a strong commitment to service excellence, consistently meeting deadlines, KPIs, and organisational objectives.

  • Comprehensive insurance and claims expertise – deep understanding of general insurance principles, claims management, risk, and relevant legislation, applied with accuracy and compliance.

  • Results-driven team player with adaptability – highly motivated, embraces change, contributes to a positive team culture, and supports continuous improvement while maintaining high standards under pressure.
