Job Description

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Oversight

  • Lead the technical and quality workstreams of the fuel terminal refurbishment project from initiation through to completion.
  • Define project requirements and
  • and work with the contractor’s project team to ensure quality and timely delivery
  • Interface between the project team and operations, ensuring that approval for each package of work is obtained from operations prior to commencing each package of work.
  • Monitor progress of works and produce reporting throughout the duration of the project.

2. Technical Oversight

  • Review technical documentation, drawings, and method statements to verify compliance with required standards.
  • Assess work scopes to ensure technical matters are properly addressed and documented by the project team.
  • Advise Operations on the technical intent and compliance of works as part of an approvals request process.
  • Supervise construction and engineering works across all fields and systems, ensuring work is delivered to specification and in line with approvals and permits.

3. HSE & Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and company policies throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify and mitigate safety risks.
  • Maintain adherence to ISO 45001 standards
  • Uphold observance of Impala Golden Rules of Safety
  • Enforce stop work authority.

4. Stakeholder Management & Reporting

  • Act as the primary point of contact between internal operations teams (Terminal Manager, Regional Operations Manager) and external parties (contractors, suppliers, regulatory bodies).
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation and deliver clear, timely progress reports to senior management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Confirmed ability in a similar role, with a consistent track record in quality and technical project supervision.
  • Comprehensive technical understanding accompanied by solid project quality and HSE experience.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English and Portuguese.
  • Strong social skills, capable of encouraging a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a self-starter demeanor.
  • Customer-focused approach, with a dedication to achieving world-class results.
  • Ability to challenge and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key Relationships:

Internal

Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other internal teams to ensure project success.

External

Liaise with external contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and project integrity.
