Solar PV Project Manager
Help deliver complex solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across New Zealand, working directly with leading renewable energy clients through development, design and delivery phases.
This is a client-facing role combining project management, technical coordination and strategic problem-solving across a rapidly growing renewables market, supported by Aurecon’s wider Solar PV and BESS specialists across New Zealand and APAC.
What You’ll Do
- Manage diverse solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects throughout development and delivery for utility-scale developers in New Zealand.
- Lead or contribute to owner's engineering, due diligence, lenders technical advisory and design services within Aurecon's comprehensive service portfolio.
- Take ownership of projects post-onboarding, ensuring client satisfaction under your autonomy.
- Demonstrate strong management and communication skills while collaborating with clients and internal specialists.
- Develop strong relationships with both clients and internal specialists to deliver successful project outcomes based on project needs and availability.
What You’ll Bring
- Ideally a minimum of 6 years’ experience in the power industry and 3 years of experience in the commercial or utility-scale solar PV sector.
- Strong understanding of the project development and delivery lifecycle, from early approvals and grid connection through to construction and operations
- Experience with grid connection of generation plants and interaction with Transpower and the System Operator.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering preferred, with other engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Civil) considered.
- Familiarity with industry tools such as PVsyst, AutoCAD, PVcase, Rated Power, or SAM by NREL.
- Extensive familiarity with the Microsoft environment, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Familiarity with CRM/ERM platforms like MS Dynamics is an advantage.
- Valid Class 1 New Zealand driver's license and full flexibility to travel across New Zealand and APAC.
