Purpose of the role

To design, develop, and execute testing strategies to validate functionality, performance, and user experience, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve defects, and continuously improve testing processes and methodologies, to ensure software quality and reliability. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and implementation of comprehensive test plans and strategies to validate software functionality and ensure compliance with established quality standards.
  • Creation and execution automated test scripts, leveraging testing frameworks and tools to facilitate early detection of defects and quality issues.         .
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to analyse requirements, participate in design discussions, and contribute to the development of acceptance criteria, ensuring a thorough understanding of the software being tested.
  • Root cause analysis for identified defects, working closely with developers to provide detailed information and support defect resolution.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.

To be successful Senior Automation Tester you should have experience with:

  • The ideal candidate should be educated to a degree level or above and should preferably be a BE/MBA/CA.
  • The ideal candidate will have an excellent command of English language with strong written and verbal communications to deliver against our commitment to providing a world class service and drive our dedication to the client experience.
  • Test Management and ability to manage, drive multiple projects
  • Test Strategy and Test Planning
  • The successful candidate will be leading testing of one of the largest projects within PB India and will be involved in all phases of project life cycle. 
  • Collaborate with technology application owners to ensure that test environments and test data required to effect an efficient testing cycle are fully available.
  • Creation of testing artefacts including test strategy documents and test plan.
  • Oversee, manage the designing and maintenance of test plans, test scenarios, test scripts, test data and test sets using various tools i.e. Confluence, JIRA, Excel, Word, etc
  • Ensure the testing of each application or project or release meets the strategic business requirements is completed on time and with a high degree of quality.
  • Leading and managing daily test calls with technology and operational teams to ensure that all testing activities have been completed and there is a clear understanding of progress, challenges, and issues.
  • Creating a collaborative environment to ensure that issues are identified and addressed promptly.
  • Reporting of progress on testing to varying levels of stakeholders through the programme.
  • Evaluate automation options and expand automated testing framework
    Manage test resources, ensuring that all planned projects are delivered on time, with good quality.
  • Manage the training, development and performance of team members to ensure that they have suitable skills to undertake their roles effectively and develop their careers.
  • Adhere to team standards and best practices, propose improvements to the development\testing process
  • Rich technology experience and good exposure to latest advancements in Testing - Capable of technical deep-dives into test scenarios, automation framework, bringing innovative solutions to the table.
  • Large scale test program delivery experience.
  • Strong understanding and experience in automation testing
  • Experience with relational databases, knowledge of SQL

Some other highly valued skills may include: 

  • Technology Test lead at a peer global bank or financial services organization with a strong understanding of capital markets, products and banking processes.
  • Knowledge of investment banking products (Wealth Investment Management, Credit domain, Client onboarding)
  • Experience with agile development methodologies
    Familiarity with tools supporting SDLC (Deployment and Continuous Integration – GIT)
