Job Description
The Cost Accountant is responsible for managing and analyzing manufacturing plant costs, ensuring accurate inventory valuation, variance analysis, and compliance with accounting policies, as well as providing timely financial information to support decision-making.
Responsibilities:
Prepare accurate and timely cost and inventory reports
Analyze inventory to identify excess and obsolescence, recording the corresponding reserves in accordance with company policies
Review accounting and cost records, including account reconciliations
Coordinate and oversee the annual physical inventory process, ensuring compliance with internal policies
Analyze and explain key variances in cost, volume, PPV, and cost drivers
Supervise plant counts and validate inventory levels for finished goods, WIP, and raw materials
Analyze standard costs and review cost roll-ups for new products and processes, as well as investigate and resolve significant variances
Lead the annual standard cost roll-up process
Participate in internal and external audits
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate and reliable financial information
Be responsible for the control and analysis of manufacturing plant costs
Desired Profile:
Education: Bachelor’s degree
Field of study: Public Accounting or related field
Minimum experience required:
At least 8 years of accounting experience
Minimum 3 years in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment
Languages: Advanced English (written, spoken, and reading)
Competencies:
Strong knowledge of cost accounting and general accounting
Analytical skills to explain variances and cost drivers
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to work with cross-functional teams (operations / plant)
Experience with ERP systems (Oracle / HFM is a plus)
Results-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement
