POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director, Wholesale Fuels Development is responsible for new wholesale fuel dealer accounts, commercial fuel accounts, affiliated franchisee new fuel accounts, and wholesale fuel marketer acquisitions. The Director, Wholesale Fuels Development will also be responsible for working with CKWF Director Operations & Dealer Business Managers for Reseller renewals. The position will require the completion of in-depth analysis of new business deals, acquisitions, and creating and delivering presentation of new business proposals to senior management. Directs staff and all activities related to the procurement, distribution, wholesale margin proforma, and marketing of fuels to wholesale customers in the Continental US. Primary liaison for all branded and unbranded new supply relationships within CKWF, including administration of new supply contracts as they relate to CKWF volume. The Director, Wholesale Fuels Development supports the company goals by focusing on personal accountability, customer service, work efficiency and growing the brand.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Increase the sale of wholesale fuels via new business through the following:
Development Managers.
New wholesale dealer customers.
Existing wholesale customers.
Wholesale marketer acquisitions.
Affiliated Franchisee existing and new fuel business.
New commercial fuel customers.
Complete required analysis and other documentation for new business acquisition.
Must be able to understand and analyze Profit and Loss Reports as well as fuel financial and sales reports.
Act as liaison between the company and new customers as it relates to fuel sales and branding.
Has a working knowledge of the PMPA, dealer and commercial fuel agreements and works with new customers to insure the completion of new and renewal contracts.
Maintain knowledge of brand requirements as related to brand/site image and procedures.
Coordinates brand imaging work for new accounts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Hands-on people management/development and team building skills
5+ years of commercial experience with a focus on new business development, preferably in a closely related business service industry.
Bachelor degree required.
MBA preferred.
Possess strong customer service skills.
Possess problem solving skills and have the ability to make rational decisions and analysis.
Detail oriented.
Possess the ability to work independently.
Be able to travel extensively for new business and trade shows.
Valid driver’s license
Accountable for establishing and achieving fuel margin plan targets, grow the customer base and develop lucrative pricing strategies.
Oversees pricing strategies and execution to insure a consistent and disciplined application of prices at new site/product and customer level
Responsible for fulfilling supply contract obligations to insure optimum incentive recovery
Develops & manages all fuel strategies (site, market, product, brand & division) including supply relationships, carrier relationships, and major brand marketing programs.
Manages strategy on a site by site and customer basis to ensure that individual and overall price position and division, product & brand strategies are aligned.
Accurately sets up maintains required system inputs to pricing systems and other IT support systems
Hires, develops and trains fuel team to advance internally and fosters a learning environment with high performance expectations
Must effectively be able to communicate and negotiate with suppliers, carriers and terminal/pipelines to achieve best in class contracts and performance
Coordinates fuels objectives with other department initiatives to optimize performance of fuel sites
Requires an ability to multi-task and complete duties in a timely manner
Proactively monitors supply situations and works with dispatch, suppliers and carriers to insure minimal disruption to fuel deliveries to customers
Recommends capital to improve fuels contribution
Develops, implements and oversees initiatives related to payment systems including fleet card sales and administration
Develop knowledge of the PMPA and franchise law with regard to pricing implications and maintain pricing policies that eliminate risk of challenge under this legislation
PROFILE REQUIREMENTS:
Candidate must demonstrate strengths in fuels management, pricing, pricing models, wholesale & retail contracts, contract negotiation, payment systems, marketing, and products distribution. Candidate must possess advanced managerial and leadership skills. Must be very analytical and the primary driver or leader of all fuel related projects. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products and aptitude to develop and understand other software tools.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, marketing, sciences, environmental studies or engineering an asset

SALARY RANGE: $140,000 - $190,000
Up to 25% annual bonus
