As the Senior Manager (m/f/d) Corporate Affairs, you will lead Haleon’s corporate affairs function in our DACH cluster, delivering an ‘end-to-end’ corporate affairs function which supports our growth across our Germany, Austria and Switzerland markets. You will be a part of the DACH Cluster Leadership Team and the Europe Operating Unit Corporate Affairs LT.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
1. Policy development and government relations
- Develop and implement policies which drive forward our business objectives. Define strategies to engage and lobby policymakers and regulators to deliver this policy change.
- Work closely with other cluster teams and the EU Affairs team on EU policy advocacy. Lead Haleon’s national policymaker engagement on EU policy implementation (such as Urban Waste Water, General Pharmaceutical Legislation etc) and partner with trade associations in EU member states to protect our business.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with relevant government ministries and trade bodies to advance our business priorities.
- Deliver health inclusivity and sustainability agenda in DACH, both internally and externally, partnering with global and OU team, manufacturing sites and relevant functions.
2. Strategic Stakeholder Management
- Shape and protect Haleon’s corporate reputation across our DACH Cluster markets, ensuring consistency while respecting national nuances.
- Identify and engage high value NGOs, consumer organisations, industry associations, and other influential actors to protect and enhance our reputation.
- Work with expert marketing teams to identify key opinion formers in the KoL space and define and execute our strategy of engagement.
3. External & Internal Communication
- Lead an integrated multi‑channel communications strategy to convey Haleon’s vision and values across DACH.
- Deliver content, narrative, and messaging to ensure clarity, alignment, and cultural relevance across different languages and markets.
- Drive proactive and reactive media engagement with top tier and trade market outlets.
- Develop and lead issues and crisis management frameworks, including escalation pathways, reputation risk mitigation.
- Translate complex regulatory and scientific topics into compelling, business relevant communication.
- Deliver compelling internal communications which spark pride and drive culture change in the DCH Cluster, aligning with the Operating Unit narrative.
- Partner with cluster HR to Drive internal engagement and support employer brand and talent attraction.
- Own external communications for our manufacturing site in Nyon, Switzerland.
4. Organisational Leadership & Performance Evaluation
- Partner with DACH business leaders, global corporate affairs, legal, regulatory, and Sustainability.
- Establish KPIs and data driven frameworks to measure communication effectiveness, reputation impact, stakeholder engagement, and risk reduction.
- Ensure alignment with other cluster leaders to ensure coherent narrative, policy positioning, and brand protection.
Qualifications/Requirements: (Education / Experience / Competencies)
- Minimum 7 years of experience in a role delivering end-to-end Corporate Affairs (with experience in communications and government affairs) at a regional and in-country level.
- Mandatory full working proficiency in German and English – excellent communication skills including verbal and writing.
- The ability to work across multiple markets/areas and demonstrate good agility.
- University Degree (BSc) or equivalent in a relevant field.
- Highly collaborative person, able to build trust with internal partners across different departments across the company.
- Solutions oriented, able to break down barriers, deal with ambiguity.
- Passionate storyteller with in-depth, demonstrated expertise of knowledge to drive internal engagement as well as external/Public Affairs activities including knowledge of media landscape.
- Able to proactively identify and tell unique narratives that support communications objectives – internally & externally.
- Deep understanding of national policymaking, its relationship with the EU regulatory and policy environment and experience of successfully influencing policy.
- Experience in issues management and building effective networking inside and outside the organisation.
- Strong strategic thinking, execution, and overall business/commercial acumen. Must demonstrate sound judgement and be able to deal with ambiguity and handle sensitive situations.
- Experience working in a global matrixed organisation and fast paced environemnt, ideally in a FMCG or Healthcare company.
