Job Description

Amazon's Legal Department is seeking a talented business lawyer to support our rapidly growing and evolving marketplace business in India. This is an individual contributor position based in Bangalore, reporting to the Director Legal. Some domestic and international travel may be required.



Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will counsel our seller services, brand relations, marketplace trust and product tech teams on a broad range of legal matters involving foreign direct investment, competition, consumer protection, privacy, information technology and intellectual property laws.

You will be primarily responsible for advising on cutting-edge business initiatives; providing day-to-day corporate and business law counseling; conducting legal review and structuring of business programs and products; advising on procedural and compliance matters; and resolving issues that arise in existing commercial relationships and pre-litigation legal disputes.

You will structure, draft, and negotiate day-to-day as well as complex, high-value contracts. Working independently with various business teams, you will serve as counsel for the development and launch of key seller and brand programs for Amazon.in marketplace. You will work in close coordination with global legal teams and external counsel, and lead initiatives in liaison with tax, litigation, finance, public relations and public policy teams.

Amazon's Legal Department is seeking a talented business lawyer to support our rapidly growing and evolving marketplace business in India. This is an individual contributor position based in Bangalore,

- Bachelor's degree in Law
- 8+ years of legal experience
- Experience in oral and written communication in English
- Experience in technology/content licensing and the e-commerce industry or equivalent
- Experience managing internal stakeholder relationships and working successfully across organizations and different cultures to deliver results requiring collaboration and coordination with multiple teams
- Experience working independently and directly with all levels of legal and business partners or equivalent
- LLB in India or equivalent law degree in other common law jurisdiction
- 8-14 years of post-qualification experience
- Competence in a broad range of corporate, legal compliance and business laws
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and assess business processes/products, spot issues, and structure practical solutions
- Excellent legal and business judgment

- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
- Experience managing and growing complex business relationship at scale
- Experience managing multiple projects and priorities across teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Experience navigating complex regulatory environments and providing strategic legal counsel in fast-paced, high-growth settings
