Job Description
The Utah Division of Licensing and Background Checks is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Background Processing Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting background screenings of applicants for employment with licensed/certified programs or as a caregiver for the vulnerable population, and determining if the applicant is approved or denied. Interpret statute and rules; understand and maintain confidentiality according to guidelines set for by the Department of Public Safety and FBI. May coordinate with other divisions to process screenings for applicantswith licensed/certified programs and other types as required by statute or rule. Responds to questions from providers or applicants in writing and over the phone to explain actions taken to applicants or programs; processes denial letters, appeals and may represent the State’s interest in administrative appeals with the Office of Administrative Hearings. Provide exceptional customer service, maintain accurate records, and ensure the efficient flow of communication. Key responsibilities and day to day responsibilities of this position: Searches, retrieves, and/or researches public and private records in accordance with applicable state and federal laws governing access to these records; Enters data into a computer system and retrieves, corrects, or deletes previously entered data; Writes or drafts correspondence, reports, documents, and/or other written materials; Performs initial background and history research on individual(s) being investigated as well as screens, composes, and/or controls sensitive data/documentation; Ensures that agency and/or state records are properly classified, processed, and controlled; Approves or denies applications based on the findings of a background screening.
